I don't agree with the aero counter argument at all a main reason for less overtaking is that the cars can't get much closer than a second to the car in front even if they are much faster. This is because the cars are so dependent on the aerodynamic grip when you are 1 second behind a car you start to loose all that aerodynamic grip and can't get any closer. So say you take all the mechanical grip away, cars are still going to be aero dependent and therefore never get any closer than a second to the car in front. The fact that the cars are so dependent on aerodynamic devices is the real problem and there is no getting away from it!
People have been looking at the aero problem all wrong as well people seem to think that it's the aerodynamic device on the car in front causing a bigger wake that is causing the problem that's any large object moving through the air at high speed is going to cause a wake. The problem is that the car behind that one is depending on it's aerodynamics for speed. All the double diffusers did was not particularly make the wake worst it made the cars even more aero dependent that's all that's why overtaking is harder. What needs to be done is to make the cars less aerodynamically dependent fact.

Well we already have manual boxes, they're just electronic. Why not ban seamless shift boxes? It wouldn't be as dramatic as, say, moving back to stick shift, but it's something.

As for rock hard tyres...I call BS. We have rock hard tyres.

Maybe for the sake of fairness i really think the teams should remove all their diffusers as well. I suppose that may be a big issue since some of them is part of the chassis.

Well blame the FIA for that becuase they let them in.

What i don't get is why they think having compulsory 2 stops would solve the problem short-term, going the other way and removing the dumb rule of using both tyres would be a good move if the tyres are easily hanging on like everyone is saying - then some might try going the distance on hard tyres while others sprint between stops on the soft tyres! That'll provide a decent speed differential (on track) between the two strategies and aid overtaking ability.

Well blame the FIA for that becuase they let them in.

Bernie is right about certain points. The teams agreed not to use kers this year. the rules still allow kers to be used. Just because not all of em was succesful with kers deployment they agreed to drop it. the diffuser causes more problems on track and certainly helps to prevent overtaking so they decide to keep it. in this case I'd blame the teams as well for their woes

I've read that one earlier and have to agree with him. the rules ties everybody's hands. no engine development. no refueling. its not formula one anymore. bernie wants a show of a train riding around the track. at the same time he wants people to pay to watch that train.

You're absolutely right. It'd be a lot more exciting if someone (Say, Button) was trying to go the distance on the Prime racing against, say, the Ferraris and Vettel 1-stopping using the Prime AND the Option and Hamilton 2-Stopping using the Options only.

Yes, exactly. We'd need a tyre war or no mandatory stop the way things are.

That's not really fair. Having KERS in play costs a lot of money and some of the teams haven't the time or need of it - Mercedes, Williams & Co. have other applications for the technology, but the likes of Force India and the new teams really don't need the hassle of another part to fail. Besides which, KERS doesn't stop being a cheap gimmick until everyone has it. Problem is, if everyone had it, it'd be pointless because the current rules mean all the systems must be identical in output. There's a tactical argument to that, but it would almost never come into play. For KERS to really help us, it'd have to be open to development.

You can't just take the diffusers off, the cars are designed around them.

Ok then everyones saying F1 is boring, but what would you do?

How would you change F1 to make it the sport we all crave for for?

Personnally I would allow the teams to develop there cars how ever they see fit as long as the car is built to a set budget, complies to maximum weights and dimensions and the engine has a maximum power out put and capacity.

I would change the tracks to make overtaking much more viable and return pitstops.

How about introducing a compulsary driver swap?

Perhaps for 10 laps of a race the reserve driver has to race you car. That would throw up a curve ball, plus it would give test drivers and reserve drivers more in season experience.

There really is nothing you can do. The advances some teams have will always be there, you can have GP2 all the same because this is the top of the game. You have to prove yourself to get yourself into a top team like Alonso like Vettel, so i think last race was good not bad. There may have been a few flat spots lets say but other than that its F1 and i enjoy it. We wont have complete domination this season, i can feel that. So i am happy.....A.T.M

That's a really complicated question. There is no quick fix. The entire Formula needs a Blank Sheet re-write.
