1996, Williams started with a 1-2, and won both championships.
1992, Williams started with a 1-2, and won both championships.

Oh how I miss those days... :(

As there was alot of passing aswell :wavey: .

JV's pass on Schumi at Estoril that year could never be repeated with the modern cars, I never liked JV but that was one hell of a pass, I often like to try and replicate that move when racing on rFactor. :hehe:

I disagree there's nothing stopping them doing that move now.

Infact we had LH do the same thing to glock in Oz 2009.

To be honest I was talking about if F1 was still racing at Estoril and if anybody tried that move on the Parabolica.

Nah bet they could.

If it was banked like the old Peralta at Mexico's Hermanos Rodriguez maybe in a gutsy Mansell type move.

Has it ever happened that a team has scored a 1-2 in the first race and not won both championships?

Last year Brawn were 1-2, and won the constructors while Jenson won the championship.
In 2004, Ferrari started with a 1-2 and won both championships.
In 2000, Ferrari started with a 1-2 and won both championships.

I thought 1999 might be an exception, with Ferrari winning the constructors, but McLaren did not get a 1-2 in the first race.

1998, McLaren started with a 1-2 in the first race, and won both championships.
1996, Williams started with a 1-2, and won both championships.
1992, Williams started with a 1-2, and won both championships.

Are there any exceptions?

Hopefully 2010 will be no exception.

Anyone but Vettel is fine with me

you dont like Vettel ? must be coz Vettel's better than Button. even so, whats not to like about him ?

Now now, no need to get personal. He's quite entitled to dislike a driver without it relating to Jenson Button and given that he hasn't singled out world champions like Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, I dare say his reasons are completely unrelated to who's the better than who.

Quite. It's because I don't like the way he carries himself, I don't like the hot-headed way he races and I really don't like the way he's painted as the messiah.

One of the best overtaking moves ever, certainly my personal favourite! Murray's commentary makes that clip so much more epic though... :)

out of all the front teams, Redbull appear the one most likely to dominate, Think its safe to say though that this "1-2 first race of the year" means little in this case. It wasnt down to domination unlike what the 1-2 record suggests so Ferrari fans shouldnt get carried away

True, but Red Bull are not the unstoppable force they claim to be. Question marks remain about the reliability and the tyres.
