The probelm is still and worse than last year, aerodynamics. They keep faffing around with aero rules, not wanting to restrict the teams too much. Delaying the ban Double Diffusers till next year. They just need to sit down and say right, it's for the better of the sport, stop concentrating on aerodynamics, and move towards mechanical grip and engine development.
There is talk about a mandatory 2 stop system. Which I hope it brought in. After the first stops, I was just begging for another round. It's still the only way people can really gain posistions.
As for todays race. It was the best race, but it wasn't any worse than it has been over the last few years. People expected way too much.
Great drive from Vettel, but again disapointing. Alonso drove great. Massa was too tentative in the first corner, but compared to the last 4 years, this is the best start he's ever made to a season. He looked just as fast as Alonso, but was never going to get past him on track anyway. Lewis got a great start, but just lost out when braked too late around turn 3. The McLaren looked over long runs.
Ferrari I don't think showed its true pace today. Both and Massa and Alonso were in turbulence the whole race. Then Massa had to slow to save his engine. But when Alonso was leading in clean air he done a 1:58.287 Which was a whole second faster than anyone else. As Brundle said, thats quite ominous for the other teams.
I think from today the order is clear. The championship battle will be Vettel, Alonso, Massa and Hamilton. With Button, Rosberg, Webber and Schumacher taking wins here and there. Red Bull and Ferrari appear to be the top teams, with McLaren not so far behind. But McLaren are a good enough team as we've seen to make ground. Mercedes I don't know. Rosberg shows promise, and at times it just disappears. Schumacher is still too rusty, and the team wasn't exactly the best in terms of development last year.
