Hello all,

I am new to the world of F1 and was introduced to it recently by a friend of mine. Coincidentally, My wife and I are booked on a cruise through the Med / Greek Isles and my cruise ship happens to be docking in Cannes on the morning of May 16th. My wife and I would like to purchase tickets to at least see a portion, if not all, of the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte-Carlo. Wouldn't be a bad introduction to the sport right? :D However, the cruise ship is leaving at 6pm and we have heard horror stories about the train station in Monte Carlo after the race. I am hoping some of you have attended this event in years past and may be able to help.

Assuming the race ends around 4pm, if we leave a couple of laps early (I know, I know :banghead: ), do you think we will make it back to the port at Cannes (around 5:30pm or earlier) by train? I think they have trains departing every 30 minutes or so but am not positive.

Additionally, on <edited for content> Jabberwocky, it looks like they offer tickets for the trains from Monte-Carlo back to Nice in advance. Will my wife and I receive assigned seating or is it a first come first served deal? Thanks.

Only advice I can offer is the minute the race finishes ...RUN!!! (Thats general advice I've been to GPs but not Monacco) On a happier note, I have left Silverstone after the race and been home in Nottingham an hour later :D
