So after looking on some lap times graph Jenson's long stint race simulation pace was roughly one second off Hamilton's. Button said he didn't get enough time to setup the car properly. I understand that. BUT, I hope he doesn't let this happen too often. He needs to learn to setup his car fast enough. Remember last year? He had to base his setups on Barichello's so he could advance in qualifying. There is nothing wrong with copying your team mates setup, but something tells me that Hamilton's setups are not the most comprehensive. Was it Heikki that was saying something about using Hamiltons setup? like it wasn't very drivable or something..?

Button was testing the new updates, thye were first applied to the car that day. He and his engineers gave them their first outing and tried to find a setup for them, then Lewis and his engineers continued the evaluation using setup data and feedback generated by JB and his engineers. You need to stop reading so much into testing if you're not going to look into all the facts.

Not to mention these were set on diffrent days could of been on diffrent tires etc.. etc..

Also it shows that Alonso and Massa had the same pattern.

@inluke - i'm a Mclaren Fan not a Lewis or Jenson Fanboy mate so i enjoyed those videos thanks i want both drivers to do well, rather than be pleased if one of my teams drivers do badly which to me is just stupid?

No, i am i McLaren fan,have been long before Lewis came along. I want McLaren to do well and Button to step up to the plate. Yes i do rate Lewis as a better driver and i do stick up for him mainly because of the unfair treatment and comments he gets on these forum,that's my opinion.

I don't want the team to do badly,that's you assuming that. I do want Lewis to put Button in his place and i am sure many other want the opposite,that's how it is.

I have said on many occasion that Button needs to concentrate on being a team player. If he beats Lewis fair enough but Lewis isn't the one who has been running his month leading up to Christmas,he sat quietly and didn't say anything.
Nothing would give me more pleasure than McLaren winning the WDC but added to that i would like to see the British press and Jenson eat humble pie.

The change of manager was just announced now, it's probably been in negotiations for 6 months or so. Anything right Lewis has done with the press in the last 3 months can be attributed to his new manager.

He allowed his father to manage him for so long as a payback and thank you. His father has done quite well being in the limelight. Anthony Hamilton was totally out of his depth and a major factor behind the public backlash over Lewis.

Now we are going to see a brand new lewis hamilton, fast, sexy, says all the right things, now he'll be a marketers dream.

Possibly it's Flavio , just kidding. As RC pointed out no one has been named and I see no need to rush it yet on the other hand I also agree with you deMuRe that we will see a new and exciting side (my intepretation) to Lewis. There was always that "hidden line" that would not be crossed having his dad as his manager yet now, when he gets a new manager, he will be able to push more business wise and if he makes the correct choice that will not have to happen and will allow him to focus even more on racing.

I think Lewis is looked after at McLaren on many fronts which is why he doesnt feel the need to rush into appointing a new manager.I guess long term there could be a conflict of interest so he will need an ndependent manager.

I think there are a lot of factors that just can't be easily put into an equation. What you see when someone is on camera or giving an interview is not only what they've been managed to say, but also their charisma, their feelings/passions (or lack their of) about the particular subject and their general business or contractual obligations.

There are some sports that most, if not all of the money made comes from sponsorships, because of that the more decorated and charismatic figures will be the ones chanced. In other sports, a good chunk of their take comes from the sport itself and that's a situation more forgiving of dry toast athletes.

So in the Lewis V Jenson argument, I have my opinion about which is dry toast and which is the better driver. Since I'm new to the forum I'll keep the opinion to myself for now.

This last week of waiting for the season to start is going to be the hardest one.

Jenson is better at interviews, but who cares. As long as the driver answers the questions properly and in enough detail that's good enough for the average driver. A driver like Hamilton has to be careful what he says because he won't be taken as lightly as everybody else. Example Marc Webber, Button, vettel and some others can curse as much as they want on camera and nobody gives a hoot. Hamilton is more of an Icon; he has a very wide fan base, adults and children and so he has to be very careful when in the public eye. You know, just like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.
