Because they they took the slot of another team and wasted it, serioulsy i know your american and you feel patriotic towards them, but surely you'd of rather seen Aston Martin on the grid.

Although I love AM I would have rather seen USF1 on the grid and you cannot make me believe you would feel any different than I if it was a UK based outfit trying to make the grid from scratch.

They won't be back becuase they have shown up the FIA they got the chance they blew it.

Again this is mere speculation and personal opinion which holds no weight , although you may be correct , I would rather keep a more positive outlook for them. I was also very excited about the prospects of having more teams involved and a larger grid and not simply because it was a US named/based team.

USF1;

a) Don't deserve to be back
b) Won't be back
c) Should never come back

How can they come back? They never arrived in the first place.

I don't mean to be rude, because I respect your opinion, but I don't think that they wasted it. At least they tried.

And the other teams that have been refused wouldn't have (and as a result most likely made it)?

I disagree, some opinions have strong evidence to back up their validity. As are the many opinions stating the belief that USF1 are, or indeed have flown down shiite creek without a paddle!

Oh no, I agree, the others teams would have tried had they been accepted. But it's not as if USF1 didn't try.

Hm, but in F1 trying to do something isn't enough. Doing it is what matters.

i.e. trying to get funding isn't enough, they MUST get funding. Try try try again but failure will always be the end result for USF1 if Barbie & Ken are involved.

Can you really see the team having faith in their management after this? For a team to work well together you have to have the backing of your workforce.. and well... they've been had.

Not good enough in F1 just trying, you gotta make the grid.

Prodrive without a doubt would of done that.

TBH I am not sure where I stand on this.

USF1 joined/signed up to F1 when the budget cap was on. with the Budget cap no longer in place it all comes down to cash flow, or lack of it in USF1's case. To start off with I thought well, all will go well with the new teams until they run out of the budget cap money which I thought would be about mid season. So when I started to hear about teams struggling to even get a car running for testing I could not understand why, but getting rid of the budget cap has a bigger implication than teams running out of money mid season. I would guess that for this year the teams are now looking for double the budget they where supposed to have.

So as a team what do you do:-
a, try and get your existing sponsors to give you twice the money?
b, find new sponsors?

What if you have in place sponsor ship for your entire car which came nicely to the amount of the budget cap. how do you get more money without having to cancel contracts and have to put up with the fall out from that.

So who's fault is it that USF1 will not be present?

USF1 yes as they have been miss managed.

FIA Yes as they should of done better checks into teams and supervised them better in the time leading up to this season. Then give the teams a slap on the wrist or remove them from the entry list if they where falling behind where they should be.

FOTA Yes because they where adamant they did not want a budget cap.

I would agree there... it is a mixture of things.. but all of the other newbies have seeked help from credible engineers & workers.

Lotus built their team from the ground up in 6 months.. They have some good people on board, Mike Gascoyne, Fondtech, Trulli & Kovalainen, Toyota head of development.

HRT, they seeked guidance from Dallara, a good place to go for a start-up team.

Virgin, They have Nick Wirth on board who knows the ins & outs of CFD. Timo Glock & Of course they've not exactly had the best of starts but they've made it...

USF1 as far as I know had just Windsor and Anderson plus a few others, none of which have an F1 background.. Not exactly the best crew.

There are several people available. Even Pat Symmonds.... There was also the a head of design from McLaren who was fired after the scandal.. but at least they knew what they were doing...

A good management would have found the right people to guide the company. I believe CNN were the sponsor that "let them down"

Some interesting stuff here

You are right they did say that they where going to join pre budget cap.

It looks like the budget cap was put into place when the team started to get sponsors.

He seems a very angry man from that article

indeed, looks like the tailenders weren't too far off with their mock videos of USF1 at all :hehe:

Super Aguri did a much better job getting a team together on minimal resources, they did it in only a few months too, like Lotus have. USF1 though have had since the end of 2008 to get ready...
