Stefan GP and US F1 to merge? :yikes:

ESPNF1:
US F1 and Stefan GP are rumoured to be in merger talks to ensure a thirteenth team is present at the first race of the season in Bahrain.

American broadcaster Speed is reporting that YouTube entrepreneur and US F1 backer Chad Hurley is in talks with Zoran Stefanovic to run Stefan GP's cars under US F1's entry. The solution would neatly bypass the FIA having to open the final grid slot to tender if US F1 fails to overcome its problems.

Opposition is believed to be coming from team principals Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson, who are both still hoping to bring an all-American entry back to life. The FIA sent Charlie Whiting to inspect the team's factory on Wednesday but has not indicated whether it will take any action. However, if US F1 comes under pressure from Hurley, the FIA and Bernie Ecclestone - who appears to favour Stefan GP over US F1 - Windsor and Anderson may be left with little choice but to accept the merger.

Stefanovic is confident his team can be ready in time to race in Bahrain, but only if he is receives confirmation of an entry by next Wednesday. 1997 champion Jacques Villeneuve and ex-Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima would likely drive its Toyota-derived cars.

I don't see what USF1 gain out of this. Stefan will surely retain it's drivers, car, facilities and sponsors (plus, by the sounds of it, YouTube) as they are in a far more advanced state. Obviously, they want USF1's entry to the championship but for USF1, surely this just means the end?

Well it's not like USF1 were gonna have an american driver in a car anyway :hehe: and atleast the team would carry on as USF1, I see it as a win/win situation for both teams quite honestly.

I wonder if Stefan are doing this in order to get the tyres they couldn't get hold off for their test?

Well, USF1 could work on the 2011 car while Stefan use the current one, they could develop the current car. But USF1 are useless so theres no oint.

StefanGP would like to inform the public that the containers we sent on the beginning of February arrived in Bahrain. In the corner of the page you will see official check from DHL and the confirmation that freight arrived. During next week we will show our Stefan Formula 1 car to the press as the final evidence that should put us on the grid in Bahrain.

If case we don’t receive the chance to compete in Bahrain, and also when some of the teams fail to show up, somebody should be in a trouble explaining what is happen to all of us.

And dreamers from USA will have to explain their actions, because they are deliberately weakening F1 with dreaming of perfect world and fairytales about success. And success doesn’t come by talking but with hard work and lot of guts. Source

So i guess they don't want to partner with USF1 then.

if as they say at the 1st gp they are stood there with a car and ready to go and USF1 are not. Will the FIA let them race or not?

Look at if from the FIA's point of view, they have egg on the their face because their selection process has been made out to look rubbish and has shown them in a poor light. So will they allow someone to enter who has already taken them to court about the selection process?

Has the Stefan passed all the safety tests?

Yeh but its not the FIA's fault really USF1 looked credible, its just a few sponsers and bad mangment let them down.

As for Stefan GP they have car ready to race and its passed all test 2nd car is being built.
