This is true - most of the bikers I know are better drivers because of their bikes. However you can't fully mitigate for other idiots on the road. A friend of mine was punted off within about a week of passing his test - he was stopped at a T-junction waiting for traffic and some stupid woman "didn't see him", punted him from behind and sent him flying across the road.
And I couldn't just pass the test to make me a better driver - I know that if I had a bike license, I would buy something silly - I've always fancied something like this

Having only a license for motorcycle back in Switzerland made me a much better car driver over here in the States. You simply are more aware of things, anticipate much better what the other driver will/could do, etc.
