Jerez testing.

Virgin are over 12 SECONDS slower than the fastest car at Jerez!

This team is going to be a liability to other cars on the track

Virgin a good idea?
Worst. Idea. EVER

I think 12 seconds with only 10 laps is not so bad compared to 9 seconds with 76 laps Lotus accomplished :P

The FIA should seriously review some of these new entries. If Lotus, Virgin and USF1 are lapping 5 to 10 seconds down they are a liability to safety and the lower the 'premium' element that F1 has.

There will be about 5 seconds between the lightest and heaviest cars during a race anyway this year and Virgin and lotus have looked to be close to on the pace if not actually on it. They have another full test at Catalunya after this one to get things sorted before Bahrain so I'm not worried. F1 has seen teams that were far further off the pace than this , some of them have gone on to win championships (Matra, Mclaren...). There would only be a safety concern if there was a big difference between the straight line speeds, which there isn't and for me, the 'premium element' of F1 is almost irrelevant. The bottom line is, F1 need more small teams if it is to be sustainable in the current economic climate.

But I think you might be right about USF1, they stand to be some way off the pace at Bahrain...

So far today Virgins fastest time was 4.2 seconds slower than the fastest lap now that's not bad, my original prediction for the new teams is that they will be around 5 seconds a lap slower than the fastest to start off with. I don't think that is dangerously slow either.

Why is everybody so worked up about Virgins? I like Virgins, wished there's more.

I don't get this fuss about Virgins to be honest...I prefer my racing teams to be well experienced, particularly when in terms of a positive outcome:whip:
