The Campos Meta 1 team is set to make it to the grid this season after a restructuring, this week's AUTOSPORT magazine reveals.

Majority owner Jose Ramon Carabante is on the verge of taking full control of the team from founder Adrian Campos. The team has battled financial problems in recent months, but Spanish businessman Carabante is working on getting its Dallara-Cosworths onto the grid.

GP2 race winner Karun Chandhok - who has also been strongly linked with the Stefan GP team - and Formula Renault 3.5 champion Bertrand Baguette are understood to be in competition for the second seat alongside Bruno Senna.

Carabante has engaged ex-Force India team principal Colin Kolles and ex-Red Bull technical director Geoff Willis on a short-term basis.

A debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14 is believed to be a realistic aim, although missing the early races is possible.

The team is unlikely to be ready in time for the final pre-season test at Barcelona on February 25-28, meaning that the cars will have time only for a brief shakedown before making their race debuts.

It is not clear whether either Kolles or Willis will have a long-term involvement in the team. Campos, who could retain a role, was unavailable for comment.

Would be a good lineup Karun Chandhok and Senna in-experienced but good.

There's rumours going around Youtube Founder Chad Hurley sent some of his guys to the Dallara Factory to look at buying the car so he might be invovled but i heard he's sniffing around Stefan Gp also.

Whaaaaat? I can think of some better drivers available than Chandhok. Still, it would be nice to see the team saved, since USF1 seem to be out of it.

Chandolk for F1, :hehe: No
Force India actually already tested him in the F1 simulator to see was it worth giving him a real test in their car. The fact that he wasn't present at the juinor test speaks volume.

Anyways, rumours are flying left right and centre. I'm just gonna sit back and wait to see what really happens.

Well Chandhok is a nice guy apparently and it would give India intrest in F1 which with a billion people watching would give F1 good sponsorship and more security.

If he was good enough for an F1 seat though, you'd have thought Force India might have taken him on at some point. I've always felt that their apparent reluctance to give him a proper go is an indicator of some lingering doubts about his ability to make the step up.

Exactly

Instead we seen Di Reista and JR Hildebrand. Great to see a team promoting some real talent.

Chandhok would be a pay driver if anything. I remember at one point Bernie himself came out and said that Chandhok deserves a drive in F1, and questioned why Force India hadn't signed him. Bernie clearly looking to suck some money from India, since Chandhok has done nothing special that warrants an F1 seat.

You have to respect Vijay Mallya. He hasn't pumped absurd amounts of money into the team (like Toyota) He hasn't went and pushed the team to sign any ol' driver because their Indian. He's also taken a genuine interest in the team, which we seen during a few interviews. Plus he's realistic. Good man in my books

Good news for Campos.

Chandok was Bruno's team-mate at ISport in the 2008 GP2 season. Chandok hasn't set the world alight but I can think of quite a fair few worse drivers.

Good news for them getting on the grid i guess. It's going to be a massive ask for them to be anywhere near the pace in the first couple of races though...

Great news! But it's interesting that there's no mention of the "VW Takeover" that was being hinted last week as Colin Kolles has taken over from Adrian Campos as the rumours suggested.

Good to see that the team has been saved.

Great News! I guess we will have 13 teams at Bahrain then :D

That all depends on USF1 and Stefan GP

USF1 Have pretty much come to the end of the line and Bernie will work his magic to get StefanGP the grid slot. I think they may enter Stefan GP as a 14th team knowing USF1 will be a know show then kick USF1 out of the championship after 3 races.
