YouTube still operates as its own entity under the ownership of Google, Chad Hurley still has the power to make decisions for YouTube and he is the one involved with USF1, so I would disagree with you, I think it is far more likely that YouTube would be the sponsor, not Google (Google would be awesome though).
You are right about one thing, neither YouTube or Google need the advertising, but they recently broke their TV silence on Super Bowl Sunday, so I don't think its too crazy to think that they would continue to branch out to other venues. I also don't think that Chad Hurley would put forward so much money if he didn't expect to get something in return.
But your right, no formal announcements have been made so until the car is released I guess we won't know for sure.
