I feel, to relieve some of your shock, I should point out to you that it isn't one driver doing the whole 24 hours. They pretty much all run in threes and they are limited to doing three hours in a five-hour period, so must take at least a two hour break in-between stints in the car. I do remember last year, though, one of the guys in one of the Kolles cars was disqualified meaning that two guys had to do the rest of the race between them. His disqualification came quite early on, too, so it must have been a heroic effort from the other two drivers.

I've done it.. sort of. My friend was getting a divorce. I live in Dallas Texas, and He was in San Diego California, a 21 hr drive. He said come get me! So me and our other friend get in his Ford F150 with a flatbed trailer and drive 21hrs. Sleep for 6, pack the flatbed with a Car a Motorcyle and a Keggerator. Then we drive 25 hrs back. I almost killed us once while passing an 18 wheeler. They were in the back sleep and never knew how close they came to death!
