The boss of the new Campos Meta 1 Formula 1 team says he hopes to resolve their future early next week.

Adrian Campos's team is the subject of intense speculation that they will not make the grid this year as they struggle to find the required budget.

Campos told BBC Sport: "We are trying to have everything solved on Monday - and people are saying a lot of stupid things. Some are true and some are not.

"We are working very hard to be in Bahrain (for the first race)."

Campos - who has already signed Brazilian Bruno Senna, the nephew of the late triple world champion Ayrton - would not confirm whether the team would make it to the first race.

He is known to be speaking to South African businessman Tony Teixeira, the founder of the now-defunct A1 Grand Prix series, about buying into the team.

Autosport.com has reported that a deal with Teixeira has already been concluded.

But Campos, who has set up the team in partnership with Spanish businessman Jose Ramon Carabante, said he could not comment on the claims.

"The problem is we have confidentiality clauses in everything we are doing," he said.

Asked about reports that the team are behind on their payments to Italian race-car constructor Dallara, which they have commissioned to design and build their car, Campos said: "Sometimes we pay the [instalment of] 7m Euros to Dallara and sometimes we don't have the money. We are trying to solve the problem."

He did, though, deny claims that Dallara had ended its contract with the team and sold the car to F1 hopefuls Stefan Grand Prix, a team set up by Serbian businessman Zoran Stefanovich who do not have an entry for 2010.

"No, they (Dallara) can't do that - we have a contract with them," Campos said.

Dallara chief executive officer Andrea Pontremoli was unavailable for comment on Friday.

Stefan GP's case is being championed by F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, who has repeatedly been quoted saying he does not expect Campos or fellow new entrant US F1 to make the grid.

And on Friday, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher told German newspaper Bild that he had been in talks with the team about an F1 comeback, saying Stefanovich made "a very serious and purposeful impression".

Stefan GP are reported to have acquired the cars designed for 2010 by the former Toyota team before the Japanese manufacturer quit F1 at the end of last season.

US F1 boss Peter Windsor has repeatedly insisted that his team will be ready for the Bahrain race on 14 March.

I really hope Campos make the grid - for Bruno's sake. I will be pissed off if he doesn't get a seat and the real "Toyota B team" make their debut with Crapajima and rubbish-Ralf as their drivers.

Team > driver. If Campos are going to be such a joke, give the place to Stefan GP already.

Agreed. Honestly folks as cool as it would be to see Bruno in, respectable teams are more important - especially given that we have Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button and all the internal conflicts going on. F1 doesn't need another box office draw that badly.

This isn't any driver, this is Bruno Senna.

And what Stefan GP are looking at is potentially the most laughable line-up in F1 history, even Andrea Moda had a better line up than Ralf and Crapajima. Bruno is far more worthy than Ralf, Crapajima and a few other drivers who have been able to get drives.

We don't actually know if Bruno Senna is going to be any better a Formula One driver than Nelson Piquet Jr.

The point is, whilst Bruno may (and nobody knows that) be better than those, he is not more important than having a team that will make the entire season and be semi-competitive. End of.

True, but there are not many drivers who are worse than Crashajima.

Some people forget how good Ralf was.

They should try get Senna then aswell, I think it would be a bad decision use Nakajima.

Senna & Schumacher would be a good line up for Stefan GP. I believe they are also looking at Bourdais.

:yes::yes:

Bourdais is a guy who deserves another chance in F1 with a decent team. Toro Rosso is bad for you.

I would be pretty happy if Bourdais got the seat, he became one of my favourite drivers in the 2008 season and it is very unfair how he was hung out to dry by Toro Rosso over a 2009 seat when Buemi undeservedly got his seat at the drop of a hat and Sebas was made to have a shoot-out with Takuma Sato.

And then there was the text message sacking.

Of all the possible returnees those guys are going for Ralf... and pairing him up with Nakajima :confused:

While it would be nice to have Bruno Senna on the grid, i hope the team is able to carry themselves and not wreck Senna's career like many other 'sub-par' teams do to young drivers.
