Well I think it's done and dusted...
Its the best decision for everyone I think. Now the speculation of his replacement will start. Kovalainen maybe?.straight swop??.. Iwould have loved to see Nico Rosberg there but that wont happen as he is commited to williams for 08

NR might still be the one - FW is known to have his price and McLaren has deep pockets...

I guess they couldn't have forced him to drive for them next year without the risk of him not trying to win, but now who can they get that can perform the way he did in 07? He did win races and collect a lot of points for them, after all.

True FW is not beyond taking cash to tear up a contract, look at the JB incident. Nico has done well this season, I'd like to see what he could do in a mclaren

He cost them $100M as well, it was best to end it, there would only be more trouble

The point is what was done is done, and no way was Alonso and McLaren going to get on after that. There would be more complaints from alonso, more fia hearings and disruption in the team, McLaren are well rid of him.

I dunno, I was just sayin', that's all, thinkin' out loud and stuff. Losing Alonso and replacing him with anybody that's available would probably, all other aspects staying the same, result in an overall reduction in performance for the team. There's no denying the fervor with which FA has been charging forth. No I'm not Biased in favour of FA.

One way or another, it is still rumour and not officially confirmed by McLaren, Mercedes or FA. Fact remains that this year is not good basis for another season - no denying that. But FA is still good driver and one with great experience in F1, so... who knows.

On Thursday press conference in Brazil FA and LH were saying they are ACTUALLY good mates (?!?!?) and many things said are made up by press. Wonder if they haven't got special instructions on how to behave from now on... blame it on press and keep on working together? (not that press hasn't played it's role, but that much... er... kind of hard to digest...)

They're both great BS artists in their new roles as best mates - and they learned from the best: RD.
