I don't want to get worried... but I'm not being able to avoid it :(

I hope they are just cheking again and again to avoid the 2009 situation..

Lewis says the car is not fundamentally bad, he seems pretty happy with it in fact. It's not a big deal yet.

With that much green paint on it are we getting sponcered by BP or something :hehe:

BP's green is not that hideous :P . What on earth is that puke green on the car for and it no doubt qualifies them for a mention in viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7137&hilit=ugliest+F1+car .

Lewis Hamilton drove the new McLaren today for the first time. He did his best time on the fourth lap of a 20 lap run. Tomorrow he hands over to Jenson Button. There has much talk of McLaren’s use of flow vis paint yesterday on the car to assess the aerodynamic performance, which some have taken as a bad sign, but I think that is just thoroughness after last year’s problems. It is normal practice to use it early on, usually at a shakedown, but as yesterday was effectively their shakedown they chose to do it then, despite it being very public.

Second fastest for BMW Sauber was 2009’s standout rookie Kamui Kobayashi, who also set his time early in the day on the fourth lap of an eight lap run. “We had no problems with the car and covered a lot of mileage. The car felt good, ” he said.

On his second day in the car he lapped in 1m 11.722s on the first flying lap of an 11 lap run early in the day. This is just 7/10ths off the fastest time at the circuit set in 2008. Massa didn’t do any particularly long runs today, most were 18 laps or less

That Mclaren might be very fast! was half a sec of Massa's time with nearly double the fuel.

There's rumours going around that McLaren already working on a b-spec car

Nah, so far there have been little complaints from all the drivers. The only car that seemling will be slow is the STR. But thats almost to be expected. The rest of the teams out there are all top of the notch race winning teams. Excluding STR, the only team out there today who haven't won a world championship are Sauber. I'd say it'll be as competitive and close as last year, if not more.

Not quite gaz, massa did it on his first flying lap of an 11 lap run, so with ten laps of fuel.

Lewis did his on the fourth lap of a 20 lap run, so 16 laps of fuel.

At any rate, isn't it slightly strange massa did his flying lap on the first of his stint? Or is it as the fuel decreases, the tires wear out to an extent that counteracts the fuel decrease?

Well, you say 10 and 16 laps, but both were probably carrying more than that.

On the plus side, I see no indication that the Top Brits are getting a slow car

Probably, but we can't really much with that date, those two times are too close - if there was a massive difference we might be able to infer something simply becuase a lot of the variables would be ruled out. But its not even like the teams are aiming to do flying laps, they want to try stuff out and get feedback.

I think the top brits (unless I'm missing something, lewis and jenson are the only brits?) should be decent at least.

Only Brits

Hmmm a few "Oh deer"'s for Rosberg and Kubica as Rosberg set his fastest time in a 6 lap run and Kubica on a 3 lap run... Barrichello's was on a 40 lap run.

Yes and apparently USF1 is going to hire a British Driver, as the American's usualy require the UK to hand hold them to be sucesfull with anything.

Some people are actually already claiming Sauber have done a Brawn. Even some journalist are getting carried away with testing times  I'm sure we can assume that Sauber are fishing for sponsors right now.

Anyways. I've heard quite a few mentions of how good the ferrari looks.

Also, Brawn are still running their old front wing and old diffuser. So actually, we're still sorta looking at the old car. Major updates expected to come from them soon.

Also, McLaren are said to have the most radical diffuser by far. Great image here shows that they in-fact joined up the diffuser with the lower rear wing. Pretty darn big then.

Same could be said the other way round.
