Can anyone shed light on why McLaren were using Paffat?

Its because there are an odd number of testing days (15) and the team want to be scrupulously fair to both drivers, giving them 7 days each. Why didnt they do a half day each? I dont know

I suppose it would make sense to give Paffat at least some time in the car especially after what happend to (whats his face?) Ferraris test driver after Massa got injured last season

Its because Gary has driven the car on the simulator the most and he can then compare the simluator to the track so they know if they simulations are correct.

Just read an interview with him he said it is so all good. :)

Getting seriously excited about the new season after today. :D God how i've missed F1 action over the winter!

discouraging times by McLaren I would say. But we still have a lot of time to improve.

Don't forget this car was designed by the design team who came up with the championship winning car in 08.

Didn't they also design that dog last year too though? :hehe:

Also. The Ferrari rumours were false apparently. In fact, it's the other way around.
It was a positive start for Ferrari. There have been rumours about the aero figures being poor and a B spec car being prepared. But my sources suggest that what has happened is that they recruited a new head of aerodynamics from Toyota in December and he brought a solution for a radical new diffuser with a hole the size of a sheet of A3 paper! It’s worth a lot in extra downforce and so Ferrari may well be building an update package around it, possibly for the first race if they can build it in time.

I like the sound of that

If that is actually true... :yikes:

No, I believe that was the other design team - my understanding is McLaren have two teams working in tandem.

Paffett seems happy enough with the McLaren. Let's see how Lewis goes tomorrow.

Ah right, that makes sense... how long have they been doing that?

Not a clue, I just remember it came up as the reason why they were able to spread resources between evolving an existing car and designing the next. I believe since at least 2007 though.
