Its just too big to carry around, and no handle so you can't carry it like a bag.

This must be the new version for those who miss the old gigantic house-brick mobile phones from when they first came about. :P

Can somebody please tell me what the heck this thing is for? Steve seemed pretty adamant that it was supposed to sit between the smartphone and the notebook, he was insistent that there was room in one's life for all three. I have an iPhone and a MacBook Pro...What the heck can this iPad (Dumb name BTW) do that I can't do better with either of those? The only uses I could really come up with were making notes in classes/lectures and a decent enough eReader - but the latter function won't be available at launch in the UK and the former isn't enough to justify the cost.

Speaking of cost, Apple's tight-lipped on the UK Pricing but you KNOW it's going to start at a minimum of £350. For a 16GB Wi-Fi model. I'm not interested in a third computer (Along with the iPhone and MacBook Pro) unless it has more space than the iPhone (To reflect its more heavy-duty functions like HD Video, the productivity Apps etc.), so I'd need the 64GB model. I dread to think what that will cost. £450? £500? My iPhone cost £540, sure - but it came with 12 months of unlimited O2 3G, EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi and it wasn't a redundant item.

Between the MacBook Pro and the iPhone, and based on what Apple has said and shown so far, the iPad is redundant to me.

Yah when the iPhone first cameout they were rediculously expensive but can now be had for $299US. They are really cool if your into all the gizmo's. Heck I do not even have texting on my LG View plan so if I wanted to send a text message it would cost me close to $1 per message  .

The best phone in the world, yes. Bear in mind, it's Pay/Go - so I actually own my phone, unlike a lot of smartphone users.

The cheapest 3GS is $199, the cheapest 3G (old generation) goes for $99.
I don't have a data plan either, but messages cost me only 20 cents a piece - you need to talk to your provider :hehe:

I just did a quick search and that is what was showed concerning the prices. I do NOT text anyway because if I want to talk to someone I will call them and texting while driving is about to be banned in my county and has already been banned in Galveston County. I really like watching some of my classmates play with their iPhones and showing me all it can do but I'm old school so I'm not trying to fix something that is not broken.

Data plans are too expensiv ehere. I don't want to have a $70/mo plan, forget it.

Yeah What a name, iPad, like there's a thinner version for lightdays.
