sigh, I am sure it is all in the numbers. all the teams will work out the maths, have models of driving styles, and work out what everyone else is doing and will do their best. the only thing that matters is how quickly teams get the statistics sorted.

So are you saying you don't think it'll have much of an effect cause of the ways in which the teams can figure this stuff out these days? Tyres are the hardest thing to analyse and no team really ever gets a true grip on understanding them... That said, my guess is that we'll just see a pattern of going for grid position on a hard track to overtake on, and vice versa. Good thing about this season though is that we could, for example, end up with a scenario where in Monaco someone starts from 8th on the hards and can still make up the track position on those in front, as drivers aren't restricted by fuel on how long they can stay out!

I don't think any amount of tire rules and regulations can make Monaco any less boring.

short cuts would get it more exciting!

What year was it when someone help Coulthard up and every one complained.

They should never have made it a single tyre manufacturer, then they wouldnt need to engineer things to make it exciting.

its not though choice tho didn't michillne pull out

No I believe the decision to go single manufacturer was made and then they pulled out.

Yep. FiA announced they were going single manufacturer and Michelin puled out 1 year early and didn't bid to be the sole supplier because they (correctly) thought it was a dumb idea.

And now Bridgestone are following them out. Great move there FiA.

I hope this year they use a lot more on-board footage for the coverage of Monaco, that would make it better.

...I'm still pushing for jumps too, just imagine the overtaking potential.

Any news on that? Who's in the running to bid for the contract to provide tires from 2011?

I've heard nothing since Bridgestone announced they were pulling out. I do know that virtually no tyre company on earth is that interested, because they've watched Bridgestone and concluded there's little value in being a part of the single-tyre-manufacturer F1. The two who seem the most likely are Cooper or Avon.
