Dont think you can equate brains or lack off with the fact that the person chooses to race. Of course talent is a huge requisit, and desire and work ethic but the driver can still be intelligent. Prost was, Damon Hill was, and many many others were and are.
not on about Lewis in paticular, but how bright do you have to be to drive an F1 car, I think it is more about talent and drive to want it.
There are/were some smart drivers and they usually did very very well because of that.
