Found this earlier and only got minor details such as the driver was either drunk or fell asleep. The driver lost both legs and the passenger was alot more lucky.

the barrier seems to of acted like a guillotine. I don't think the driver would of seen that bit coming

IIRC this happened in Greece about a month or so back. There was something dodgy with the barrier I think where the back strut wasn't present where the R8 hit - so where the back strut would have stopped the barrier slicing into the car, it wasn't there meaning the barrier cut into the car far more than was normal - along the lines of this: http://www.ridedrive.co.uk/article-vbcrash.htm

talking about where there is blame there is a claim. I was chatting to a neighbour who is a manager of a supermarket. they have been told by head office not to grit their carpark or paths because that means they are accepting responsibility for them, so if someone slips and hurts themselves after they have gritted it it then it is the company's fault

But how can they be absolved of blame, if they neglect to grit the path? This sounds backward.
If you slip on their property they are responsible. If they gritted it then that might even mitigate some of the proportion of liability away from them.

No one deserves such a thing to happen to them yet the consequences of their actions must be accepted by them and no one else. Did I desreve to loose a finger and sustain the other injuries I did in my motorcycle accident???
