F1's Poison Dwarf, BE, can be quite proud of himself. Apart from turning the GP series into something more appropriate for Barnham & Bailey, in 2009 he also succeeded in assisting in destroying the oldest operational race track in the UK; Donnington Park. The track now lies closed and looking more like a World War 1 battlefield with little chance of restoration.

Yep, he and Gillet wrecked Donnington. Idiots.
But I thought the poison dwarf was Jean Todt.

Bernie can not be blamed for Donington in my opinion, it was upto Gillet to get the funding together to make the event happen. Maybe Bernie could have done more to ensure that Donington Leisure Limited had the resources to make the required changes but with the massive downturn in the economy, this may have been unavoidable.

Yes but Bernie knew damn well that the Donnington venture wasnt viable, he used it to try to screw Siklverstone abd the BRDC (or similar letters...he damon Hill thing)

Nah it looked good until the recession hit Donnington.

The BRCC aren't innocent either ewan mentioned to me that they spent alot of money on a new club house for themselfs rather than on improving facilities on the track.

I live near Donnington, it was never viable, not for this year, they could never have sorted out the roads even if they did get the track finished. The track shares the link from the M1 with a major international airport.

The BRDC may have built a club house but it wouldnt have been at the expense of improving the track and facilities. They have plans to improve the track and facilities and and can fund it, but not while they are on a year to year contract. Now they ave it for 17yrs, they'll invest.
