He's not left them on bad terms and drivers and ex-drivers throughout their careers often shift teams then return. After the way Prost and McLaren parted in '89 nobody thought they would ever work together again, and yet Prost returned in an advisory capacity as well as carrying out testing for them in '95 and '96. Likewise Lauda after his very public falling out with Ferrari and retirement followed by his return and 3rd WDC with McLaren then returned in a long term role to Ferrari years later. That's just two high profile examples (there are also Mansell with Williams-Ferrari-Williams, Berger with Benetton-Ferrari-McLaren-Ferrari-Benetton amongst others).
I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Schumacher back at Ferrari again, whether it's in 3, 5, 10 or 20 years.
Favourite racing series: F1, Indycar, NASCAR, GP2, F3, Formula E, Trophee Andros, DTM, WTCC, BTCC, World Endurance... etc. etc.
