I would think as long as Ross Brawn is there, Schumi is there.

Are you suggesting the FIA would say give penalties to another driver or team to help schui win?

The only thing about Schumi returning is that it would have been nice to see how he went WITHOUT Ross Brawn by his side.

The Ferrari people must be extremely pissed off at Schumacher....... after a couple yrs of being an "honorary" PAYED member of the Ferrari family........ Ferrari only did Mercedes a favour by keeping Michael well acquainted with F1. There's gotta be some serious at Ferrari. I always thought Michael's position at Ferrari was stupid. Turns out it was even more stupid than i thought!

Flea, I think Di Montezemollo knew this summer, thats why he was pushing hard for a third car being tied up with Massa and Alonso. Because to me that seemed just odd to be pushing that hard. He knew that if he didn't find a drive for Schui, he would walk.

Still, Ferrari had Michael on their payrol for a couple yrs. And if anyone can tell me what he actually did besides hanging out in the garage wearing Ferrari gear........ come to think of it, that was a nice job

Well he took the car out in 2008 a few times if i remember so that's allot of development help

And thats where MS was a great package he was very technical he can tell the engineer what they need to know.

I expect he just acted as a go between for drivers and engineers.

Did he also help develop the FXX? Or was that while he was racing? Also just his ambassadorship is worth the 5m a year. Hell, Tiger Woods can probably get that even with his troubles.. Im sure Nike is giving him way more than that today. Im sure Schumi sold some road going cars. (not like a salesman, but an endorser). I think Ferrari got what they paid for during that time and some.

I mean he still had a PR manager, Sabine Kehm, that Ferrari was paying for as well. I believe why he would need that when he wasn't doing anything is The dude was a media goldmine, a marketing jewel, a financial asset.. The Name!!

Alonso and Schumi for me.

He's not left them on bad terms and drivers and ex-drivers throughout their careers often shift teams then return. After the way Prost and McLaren parted in '89 nobody thought they would ever work together again, and yet Prost returned in an advisory capacity as well as carrying out testing for them in '95 and '96. Likewise Lauda after his very public falling out with Ferrari and retirement followed by his return and 3rd WDC with McLaren then returned in a long term role to Ferrari years later. That's just two high profile examples (there are also Mansell with Williams-Ferrari-Williams, Berger with Benetton-Ferrari-McLaren-Ferrari-Benetton amongst others).

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Schumacher back at Ferrari again, whether it's in 3, 5, 10 or 20 years.
