I think people are more sensitive that usual in this thread, I remember digging myself into a hole of hot water trying to be nice about female media images.

Basically you are right. Hopefully everyone doesn't care about what people look like. I certainly don't, but I don't want an image of a car as my avatar - so I made it a picture of me. I didn't do that because I am in love with myself. I would never call myself beautiful; not only is that extremely arrogant but it is also untrue. And, again, it's not the greatest picture taken, so I was trying to say that people have nothing to worry about if they post a picture of themselves.
I would also never insult someone's appearance in order to make myself look more appealing.

It's definitely not what I was implying. I like it when people use their own photo, like I said, it's nice to put a face to a name. And incidentally, you're a very pretty young woman so don't sell yourself short.

On a more serious note, I look a bit pirate-like right now. Could do with shaving, but it's Christmas, so I might not bother until the new year. It's already been two and a half weeks >.> I look awful. Or rather, more awful, considering how bad I was before

On a more serious note, I look a bit pirate-like right now. Could do with shaving, but it's Christmas, so I might not bother until the new year. It's already been two and a half weeks >.> I look awful. Or rather, more awful, considering how bad I was before

Spoil sport. Why is it only the women that are willing to show their faces?

I don't mind when I look half-decent, but at the moment I could sit on the streets, armed with my trusty hound and a sob story, and pass off as a genuine homeless person. I really am a nasty sight today
