A mind opening Interview with the Spainish Press from Alonso

What's the mood like in the team?
Fernando Alonso: Like always in the last few weeks. Some of them aren't talking to me any more. Some have taken one side or another and then they blab whatever they like to the papers.

So are you disappointed with McLaren?
Fernando Alonso: I had high expectations of the team. No doubt about that. We were all looking forward to the season. From the outside, everyone gets a very different impression of the team - serious, professional. I arrived here as back-to-back World Champion and played my part in improving the car. Last year, the team had difficulty making the cut for Q3. This year, they're world championship material. To be frank, I haven't been well treated in the circumstances.

Did you as a double world champion expect to be treated like that?
Fernando Alonso: Not as a double champion but as a human being. No, I hadn't expected that.
Yesterday, Ron said he wasn't pleased that you had kept silent at the press conference instead of confirming that both drivers were getting equal treatment in the team... Fernando Alonso: Sometimes it's better to say nothing than to tell untruths. That's one thing he should do more often. It would be good for his team. Because a lot of the things that happened this year, the scandals we've been involved in on and off the track, are in no small measure down to what he has done... I think everyone has his own philosophy of life and that's only fair. I've spoken to Coulthard, Montoya and Kimi. And they were all happier after they'd left the team.

What promises did Ron Dennis make to you and which of them has he not kept?
Fernando Alonso: He promised me nothing at all. The only thing I ever hear is all this talk about equal treatment. But this is how it is: the more people boast about something, the less substance there is to it. Equal treatment within a Formula One team is impossible. There's always going to be a better engine, a better lap for the pit stop and so on. I'm not saying that there isn't a certain degree of equality. Sometimes they give one driver the advantage and sometimes the other. But at the beginning, they were doing it more for me and now perhaps less so. But he talks about equal opportunities and they simply aren't there.

When will we find out who you'll be driving for in 2008?
Fernando Alonso: I hope I can start preparing for next season soon. I don't know where I'll be.

The impression is that you can't carry on here...
Fernando Alonso: I'm trying to do my job as well as I can, to improve the car, to find good setups, to drive as well as I can in the races and that's all there is to it. And then you see what he [Ron Dennis] does and listen to his comments and statements... It doesn't matter if they aren't keen to carry on. They've got one driver who is really important to the team. Okay, no problem. There are ten other teams interested in me.

What, where's the truth? It's funny how Alonso hasn't mentioned his own failings and behaviour at the team this season. Furthermore, if the best thing he can say against the team is that perfect equality is impossible in Formula One, then McLaren have done nothing wrong. Everybody knows that and, as far as is possible, McLaren is the best place to be as far as driver equality goes. Even Lauda had to come out and admit that.

Well before, anything that was said was mostly lies.
This is really the first time we've heard him confirm that McLaren have gone silent against him, and that theres little chance of him staying.

Which means that he will move to Renault, team up with Kovy, and leave Piquet without a drive again. Which means Piquet might try to move to Williams.
That would be interesting as both Piquet and Rosberg's fathers where at Williams

In that case, it will be really interesting to see what happens if Kovalainen starts out-performing him.

This reminds me of when I was a Schumi fan and I had to put up with all the people that nit picked at every single fault Schumi had, ignoring his skill and ability to captivate an entire audience.

Every time people blasted Schumi it brought a smile to my face, because that's what Schumacher did, he brought out the emotion in you. You loved him, then you hated him but mostly you were in awe of his sublime talent behind the wheel.

F1 needs controversy. It needs people bending the rules. It needs driver failings. All the drivers are competative beasts that will use anything in their power to gain an advantage. If they go too far the FIA steps in and wraps them on the knuckles.

If your team or your driver gets beat or does something wrong, don't blame the other driver or team, appreciate that if you were put in the same shoes you would have probably done the same thing.

Every team has a spiritual number one driver, regardless of what they tell the public. Every team would cheat if they thought they would get away with it. Every driver would bend the rules to gain an advantage if they had the opportunity. This is modern F1, with all this money at stake now days everyone in the team down to the most junior mechanic would sell their souls to the devil if it would make the cars go faster.

Romance is dead, results and greed are alive, instead of getting upset because the drivers aren't perfect, sit back and enjoy the show and realise the very thing you are complaining about is what makes this sport so fascinating. Without it you would be bored.

^^but if we didn't complain and moan, that would lose the whole point of what you just posted

Talking of complaining and moaning, that's why deMuRe's is slightly wrong. Schumacher may be a lot of things. People may disagree with what he did and how he did it, however, he never complained and blamed everybody else for his misfortunes. Alonso has blamed everybody and everything under the sun for his woes this season. Personally, I'm sick of his complaining.

Sorry, but there's NOTHING there. I really hope RD, LH and FA will open more between seasons and we'll have some real stuff.

Sure, but why are they silent against him? And from when? Because of his role in spygate (if there was his role, after all - I want details on that, too) or because LH is RD's little boy-wonder.

^^Hmm, maybe it was the fact he was the one supposly putting Ferrari info onto the car, which cost the entire team the championship, or maybe it was that he apparently was blackmailing Ron Dennis, his own boss. The boss of the whole team.

You said "apparently", because that's Pork Dennis words, and he was lying (as still is doing now).

a reality check is required here I think.

We won’t ever know the real truth so it's all speculation and the British will support LH and outsiders will possibly support FA.

I'm a neutral and think they are both great BUT life has taught me this much.

There’s always two in an argument, no smoke without fire etc etc.

so I don't believe it's FA's imagination things that are going wrong but I don't think he has helped himself either. If he has said those things in the press for 100% certain then what good is it going to do him.

Mind you sitting back and shutting up when you know things are different is not easy to do no matter what walk of life you take.

The championship could not be better poised for a finally. We are the winners so watch and enjoy and leave the squabbles to the women
