Hi Guys,

I took some photos a couple of months ago, after I moved away from the City, to the Central Coast in New South Wales. One of the photos I took was this remarkable image which I will enter into a competition. I was just going across the Hawkesbury River on the train and goofing around - so I never looked at this picture again. Until yesterday. :cloud9:

My camera isn't even that good. So I'm very surprised that I managed to get this picture out of a dark, tinted window. The tilt of the camera shows how unprepared I was for it.

Umina Beach at Dusk - 1 Minute Walk from my house. :cloud9:
EDIT: Except I took it at the end of the beach, so it's about 20 minutes down the beach and directly under the Mount Ettalong Look-Out. I like how the Lighthouse is flashing. I always feel safe when I see the Barrenjoey Lighthouse flashing in the distance.

There are a few more that I'd like to add. :D

I'd also like to add that the island off the beach and lookout is Lion Island. I love this Island. No man is allowed to set foot on this island.

It's at the Entrance to the Hawkesbury River. You can see him from all 5 beaches in the local area. To me, this island serves just as much purpose as the Lighthouse. Whenever I see the Island, I know I'm home. The Lighthouse is the start of Sydney Suburbia. I travel 1 hour and a half to work everyday.

Here is a link to the map from Google Images to give ya'll and idea:

Nice pictures, reminds me of my native Devon/Cornwall area. I did try to take some picture of Kansas for you but I got bored before I could unpack my camera. :P

:hehe: Gaz.

Big Azza - great pics. Makes me *almost* want to come live in Australia. What camera are you using?

I'm just using the camera on my Nokia Xpress Music 5800. It's a crap phone though, and it usually doesn't take good pictures.

And lol at Gaz.

@ madbrad:

Haha - Brad! :wavey:

Yes, I've seen your photo of the mullets - waaaaay before my time! :)

I'm still going to add further pictures of my place - but I've been far too busy at work (2 hours away :( ) to appreciate my surroundings and take further shots.

Wow, I envy you...Australia. I am stuck in America :(
I've wanted to go to Australia since I was a little girl.

Well pack a suitcase and come already! :hehe: There are plenty of cabins near-by for roughly what I'm paying: $155 per week.

It's great because I feel like I'm on holidays, it's relatively cheap, and I'm still only 1.5hours away from Work in the CBD. For every upside though, there is a downside. The locals are a bit iffy. There is high unemployment in the area, and high volumes of dole bludgers and trailer trash. There are 4 bottle shops in the area and 2 pubs.

In a couple of pay-rises time I want to live on the other side of the hill, which is that picture you see up above.

All Saturday I hear: :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:
:hehe:

And I love your pics Gaz. How should I put it? Um.... Your beach has nice character! :hehe::thumbup:
