That was when tire changes were banned. They could never be sure if they'd be penalized, even with the provision for dangerous situations, because it was all down to interpretation. It's the reason they got rid of that rule.

Who said it was all McLarens fault?

McLaren left Lewis out too long and Lewis came into the pit too fast for the tire conditions.

Errors on both sides.....but....

Had it been Alonso that had been left out too long on his tires, he would have went crying to the press that McLaren did it deliberately in order to sabotage his race. And then the FIA would have stripped the drivers points off Hamilton in order to ensure their bar steward child won.

I worry - I have seen it all before. All Mansell had to do was bring it home in Mexico and he was world champ....it did not happen, but everyone was still confident he could do it in the last race. And we went down under to watch Mansell do it in Adelaide, Australia...............
