Yup. Childhood rally hero. I was lucky to see him bombing it through the Welsh forests in an Impreza when i was a kid.

I always thought that Burns and Tommi was better. McRae always seemed to end up in a ditch on his roof. (that is just my memory of that era any way)

Yeah, McCrash was his nickname... But that's what made everyone love him, the fact that he was a do or die kinda guy... crash or.... almost crash... and somehow get away with it and carry on !

He did get labelled with the Mcrash tag but I was watching a program about rallying and Mcrae just made it into the top ten when it came to who has had the most crashes/accidents in the WRC, when he did crash it was usually a good one though Think Chris Atkinson came in first, which is one hell of an achievement considering he had just started in the WRC
