I agree, Sutil has a lot to prove. Really I would think if he doesn't perform this year he'll be out. The Force India can field Luzzi (he's great at getting a good set-up) along-side a young rookie like Paul Di Reista.

Also, it seems Mercedes are now waiting to see if Renault pull out of F1 to see if they can't grab Kubica for 2010.

So really, it seems there will be a pause in the driver market till we see where Kubica goes. :( I really get a bad feeling from this Renault talk. Gawd I don't want them to leave F1, it'd be a nightmare to see yet another team go, not mention one less engine supplier.

Seems there are very few seats left. Get yer butt in gear Kovy

Heidfeld can stay at Sauber now they're in (it seems), and Renault can stay put with Kubica there too - thus paving the way for Raikkonen to stay. I live in hope...

Jacques Villeneuve on Thursday visited Lotus and was given a tour of Colin Chapman’s first workshops as speculation continues regarding a race return for the famous Canadian racer.

The 1997 world champion, who is openly hoping to re-enter the sport in 2010 after a three-year absence and has been training intensively in Austria, said earlier this month that he was in preliminary talks with the outfit.

The local Norwich Evening News said Villeneuve, met with Lotus executives. "Jacques’ visit is an honour for Lotus," stated CEO Dany Bahar. "Our people are a blend of talent and expertise combined with passion for our brand. Our highlights are theirs, so this is a special day for us all.

Team boss Tony Fernandes said on Twitter earlier this week that Villeneuve had landed in London on a Virgin flight from New York and would "Have to decide on four drivers for two seats".

"It has been a great day for me to catch up with my friend (Lotus VP) Gino Rosato in his new role at Lotus and to see where the magic of Lotus comes from," said the winner of 11 grand prix.

Jarno Trulli as well as Villeneuve has been linked with a Lotus seat for next year.

All i can say is... :-|

I was on my way to posting that up. I think JV is just coming across a bit desperate. the only seat he has not tried being linked with this year is the number 32 bus.

A couple more rumors/articles:

Booth hints at imminent di Grassi deal

John Booth has hinted strongly that Lucas di Grassi is set to secure the second race seat with Manor Grand Prix.

Di Grassi, who won the prestigious Macau F3 race with Manor four years ago, said recently his chance of becoming Timo Glock's new F1 team-mate was good.

"Hopefully we should be able to announce the second driver in a couple of weeks," Booth told the South China Morning Post at last weekend's Macau F3 race.

Di Grassi completed the 2009 season as Renault's reserve driver and is scheduled to test for the team again next week at Jerez.

Booth admits that winning the 2005 Macau GP with di Grassi remains a highlight of his career but can't yet confirm the identity of Glock's team-mate. "There is a possibility he may have won the Macau Grand Prix before," he said.

Takuma Sato won Macau in 2001, and five years later the winner was Mike Conway, who will test with Mercedes at next week's Jerez test.

Booth also would not confirm intense speculation that Manor Grand Prix will shortly be launched as Virgin F1 ahead of its 2010 debut.

"I couldn't possibly comment on that," he said. "In the next two weeks there will be an announcement on the commercial tie-up of the company."

Glock and Di Grassi would be a very solid lineup for any new team...

Wurz rules himself out at USF1

Alex Wurz on Friday announced that he will not be making an F1 return with the new USF1 team.

Earlier this year, the Austrian driver as well as USF1's sporting director Peter Windsor confirmed they were in contact regarding a possible collaboration for the new American team's debut season.

"There were discussions with USF1, but now I draw a line under the matter," Wurz told motorline.cc. "My priority is the Peugeot factory team - I'm going to contest the 24 hours of Le Mans and other (sports car) races."

Wurz denies that his pulling out of the running with USF1 has anything to do with the intense rumours suggesting the Charlotte based team is ill-equipped to see through its F1 foray.

"No, it is a decision of the heart," said Wurz. "I could earn more money in Formula One, and I am convinced that USF1 will succeed in bringing American technology and American thinking into Formula One.

“Even people like Chip Ganassi are convinced that USF1 will be there.”

Sucks that Wurz won't be racing (as it seems), he's a top guy. I have no idea who could realistically go to USF1. :scratchchin:

No Algy, throwing a guy out at 19 seems a bit harsh
