I am terrible with a hand gun, but the best advice I have been given with one is to point with your index finger. Semi Automatic rifles are much more my style

I am terrible with a hand gun, but the best advice I have been given with one is to point with your index finger.

Index finger get's one within a certain area which is all fine and dandy but there are site's that must be utilized if one hope's to pass the 'range' qualification ie shot placement . There is no replacement for experience so I assume my 37yr's of firearm's experience has reached a certain level of fruition, praise the lord.

Semi Automatic rifles are much more my style

Semi-auto's also require more than just a "point, shoot and hope for the best" regimen, I'm thinking that a full auto with eye's closed is more your style.

Rifle shooting I am quite good at, it all goes wrong when I am in full NBC gear.

Most everyone is better at rifle shooting simply because of the time alotment that normally prevails. I'm by no mean's a commando myself and hope that I'm not coming off as egotistical in any fashion.

I realize that this forum is UK based and the police do not carry firearm's over there but there are some US forum member's who may appreciate alittle of my Pre-LEO bragging . I just acquired this handgun/pistol from my dad and just had to share or brag, take your pic . It is a Kimber 1911 style "Pro Carry I" in .45 ACP and is a "top of the line" firearm in price and quality. Brand new it cost $1K but I got it for what my pop's paid for it, $400!!!

I'm kinda just experimenting at the moment with different pistol's, it's a very important aspect of law enforcement to be comfortable with one's firearm.

WOW it has been a crazy week for our class!! On monday our class is notified that two of our fellow cadets were in a "donorcycle" accident. It seem's that while riding his "donorcycle" Cadet Pugh hit a deer and Cadet Gutierrez (his best girl) was a passenger. Pugh has two broken arm's a broken leg and seriously F'd up a few vertibrae but Gutierrez is home with nothing more than road-rash, scrapes and bruises.

That is the good part and now for the worst part. Our Cadet Santana had been very sick for the past week and on monday he was even worse but still made it to class for our 4th test. On tuesday he was not in class and we heard from other's who work with him that he admitted himself to the hospital. This morning we are informed that he has fluid around his heart and that he is in a coma. Come 10:30am we are informed that Cadet Santana is "brain dead" and there is no hope of recovery . We have no confirmation as to the cause of his condition but we are all in shock.

Yes I'm pretty upset at the moment but I'm trying to stay strong and supportive for my classmate's aswell as myself.

I recieved an update this morning from a fellow cadet who works at the sheriff's dept were Cadet Martinez worked aswell. When the hospital were running a battery of test they found fluid was surrrounding his heart and when the doctors tried to draw some fluid for a biopsy Martinez went into cardiac arrest. By the time they resuscitated him he had gone to long without blood flow and oxygen to his brain so that is what caused his lack of any brain activity. We found out that the origin of his condition was due to cancer of the heart and it was determined that he was inflicted with the cancer in less than one year.

He was put on life support and was to be taken off yesterday morning at 10am but with the outpour from his fellow officers, friends and family they waited. He was taken off life support at 8am this morning.

that is a really sad story, but still man nothing you can do for him now and if your religious pray.

Just try to focus on why you both wanted to get into the police force as you continue your training.
