Our police academy has four different 'extra certification' class's offered and tomorrow I will get my 'pepperspray certification' :yikes: !! I will report what it entailed after the class but it should be very painful to say the least.

The other three certifications are as follows:
2. Doppler Radar.
3. Baton course. ( Considered a form of self-defense so we must be certified to carry a 'beat stick'.
4. Mobile Video course. ( Certified to operate and use the mobile video recorders).

Now, I have stopped thinking, I just do whatever I want to do. It saves lots of time to me as well as it boosts up my confidence.

Good stragety, stop worrying about stuff and succeeding or failing and just apply yourself to doing what you want to do. Really brings out the meaning in "IF" (triumph and disaster), I should remember that more often particularly at this stage in my life.

Just returned from the pepperspray class and it was very informative and not as painful as expected. After all the classroom banter we were led outside and instructed to put ourselves into a 'fight, combat' mode as if we were in a physical confrontation with a subject while instructing them to 'get on the ground, stop resisting'. It was a great class and now that I am state certified to carry/use pepperspray the fun stuff can begin as we are about to start our 'mechanics of arrest' and self defense course's.

Man I LUV law enforcement and I also made a great contact today for employment once I graduate.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and be safe,

Took my "Mobile Video" aka "incar video" certification course this past saturday and it was very interesting. The instructor was a retired "Department of Public Safety aka DPS" state trooper and alot of the video's we saw of stops made by the DPS were made by him. Only two more certification course's left, Doppler Radar and Baton.

I'm sporting an "A" grade average so all it good. :)

I got an all time highest for advance level chemistry in my test, 2nd highest in the class. But this teacher gives really hard tests, much harder than the exam ones.

For the first time I got the highest in my physics class, was only a D though.

A "D" is passing score though but I understand your frustration. In my police academy a cadet must sustain a minimum of an 80% ie "C" average or else get KICKED OUT of the academy. :yikes:

Nothing worth having is going to be easy and I'm sure you, and I, will pickup our game  !!!!!!

Just think of Doppler Shift Radar as the sound of an F1 car passing you. the change in sound is due to the shift in the waveform. The Radar just uses radio waves instead of sound waves. I would imagine it to be between 3 - 9 Ghz but don't hold me to that bit

A d at this stage doesn't really bother me I'm on the second year of a 2 year course at this stage in my education (entry to uni qualifications), this time last year I was doing worse in tests and this year is supposed to be harder. I'll be ok pulling myself up in time for the exam, main thing was getting the highest in the class since there are pretty smart people in there and they normally get me by a mark or something.

Tex what happens if you drink your pepper spray do you fail the course, and has anyone ever done that?

The pepper spray is in an aerosol form so it cannot be drank, thank god!!

I have been very curious about the Doppler concept and think is has more to do with the GPS of patrol cars but I'm not really sure.

has anyone ever tried?

I'm not really sure but I hope not  . The spray that is forsale to the public is less intense than the "police" pepperspray and then there is a pepperspray that will stop a bear attack and is not meant for humans. Pepperspray is the best non-lethal form of deterent against a physical confrontation, which nobody wants.

I realize that this forum is UK based and the police do not carry firearm's over there but there are some US forum member's who may appreciate alittle of my Pre-LEO bragging :D . I just acquired this handgun/pistol from my dad and just had to share or brag, take your pic  . It is a Kimber 1911 style "Pro Carry I" in .45 ACP and is a "top of the line" firearm in price and quality. Brand new it cost $1K but I got it for what my pop's paid for it, $400!!! :D
