I think that Red Bull will get numbers 3 and 4 as Sabastian Vettel finished 2nd in the Drivers Championship.
also wouldnt Mercedes GP be classed as a new team and have to have the last numbers?

na only the drivers champions carries the number he earned in the previous season that being 1. the rest of the numbers go on constructor standings.

Mercedes buying out Brawn wont change their position as they signed the concord agreement so will have numbers 3 and 4

yeah but when Honda was brought out Brawn lost the positions as the team name was changed and the agreement had been signed by Honda.

BAR changed their name to Honda without losing their position.

Yep, every entry can change its name without penalty every 5 years. Honda becoming Brawn took place too soon after BAR became Honda, so Brawn had to be counted as a new entry. That does not apply here.

Is that a rule, the five years? That's new to me, but one never stops learning new schtuff!

Apparently so, I wasn't aware of it until recently either.
So Mercedes loose their numbers.
No, I don't think so. Brawn was a new entry, so the Mercedes name change counts as "once". If the team changed again within 5 years, then they'd lose their numbers

Ahh I misunderstood I thought you meant that the team would need to go 5 years before it could be renamed without penalty.

Yeah, I apologise - reading it now, it's poorly worded.

You change your mind more than I shower (actually bad metaphor, I don't wash), but how many different predictions have you made in this thread, and each tme one is proven wrong, you make a new one, so then you can say "I was right" :hehe:

It'd be better just 1 at the start and then speculating till it all comes out.
Speculating, not predicitng.

it's MY f*cking thread, I'll do what I want! :dummyspit:

but really, I just want to update it with anything that is confirmed so you don't have to go back many pages to see what the list looks like. Obviously the ones that we haven't heard much about are guesses and if they prove to be way off, I'll change it so by the end we should end up with a proper list of confirmed drivers. I'm not going to attempt to take credit for the guesses I made which turned out to be right because in those cases, I've usually got some info off another site or heard a rumor somewhere and it's not really anything to do with how little or how much i know about the drivers market.

Nice, any news on whether Anthony Hamilton has attempted to bribe Heikki into lending him his girlfriend for the weekend?

It didn't go down well.
Ant is tied up in Heikki's cellar. Has been for 2 days.
Heikki has just been to the toilet for the 3rd time today!

Well that's some good news I guess, Heikki Kovalainen is nice and regular and Anthony Hamilton has been neutralised for the time being...Do keep up your invaluable work!

Argentine driver Jose Maria Lopez has reportedly signed to race with the USF1 team in 2010.

The 26-year-old former GP2 driver, who has recently been racing in his country's touring car championship, must complete a $8m sponsorship package but has signed documentation at the team's Charlotte base, the Corsa publication said.

"The agreement with the American team is done," said Carlos Garcia Remohi, an official with the Argentine club. "We have a week to finish collecting the budget."

Lopez, who occasionally tested with Renault a few years ago, was pictured by the ambito. com website standing at the USF1 entrance with principals Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor.

"To be specific, at this moment we lack about 20% of the budget," Lopez's father confirmed.

So a pay driver of sorts for USF1 it seems, and an immensely unspectacular one at that.
