I would be surprised if most dads didn't go to races. It's just it seems to be the in thing with the tv cameras to pick up on them these days.
I know that Senna's dad used to go to some grand prixs as did his brother but they managed to keep themselves out of the way unlike these days.
I guess it's just a case of how times are changing.

I think them turning up at home GP is different.

It's a shame they couldn't have swapped Satoru with Kazuki for that race. :hehe:

Some of Kazuki's points were pretty flukey, AND came under the current points system, so really he should be under Super Aguri and Kamikaze-Katayama.

I like how Kobayashi is already the 6th best after just two outings.

It really shows how bad a lot of the Japanese drivers were, but then again a lot of them raced during the old point system.

But you can also say that many of the Japanese drivers were also pay drivers so can you really count them as F1 drivers? If another team gives Kobayashi a chance in 2010; he'll soon surpass the rest of the Japanese if he has a reasonably competitive car... I believe he is easily the best Japanese driver F1 has ever seen!

On the dads issue; I believe that fathers have no place in the F1 pitlane, they should watch from the stands like everyone else.

Personally I don't tune in to watch fathers and girlfriends; I tune in to watch a motor-race; I couldn't care less about family members. It's not so bad here in the US but in the 2008 season; I saw far too much of Anthony Hamilton on my screen on ITV, how about watching his son race instead?!?! that'll be a novel idea!!!

meh.. I could take it or leave it. It's all apart of the Television drama that adds to the race. Like the pre race show up and down the pit road. I mean one of the most memorable moments was when Massa's father thought he won the championship and it was snatched away like that. That was priceless...

Managers don't have any place in F1 [joke]... stick them in a little room miles away from the track!

It gets annoying when just as much attention is being paid to the fathers as the people we should be watching, the drivers, I don't really care if they are there at the race, but do we need to cut back to Anthony Hamilton every two minutes for a reaction shot?

Yes it is annoying but the fault of the tv programme makers not the dad's And John Button's appearances are just as annoying as Ant's...he's so damn ugly!!!I think he likes his whiskey!

Ant only has 3 reactions

1. Slight smile if something good has just happened.
2. Shakes head if team make a mistake and Lewis looses out.
3. Stands motionless behind the biggest pair of mirrored shades this side of the 70's

I can't understand how you HATE Ant Hamilton, he's a father who has built up a champions life. He's the reason why Lewis is in F1 and so good. That's commitment and no one can't take his pride away
