this is where i think a few problems in the team may be =

"Lewis likes a rear end that moves around a lot - he uses the rapid change of direction that provides to pitch him quickly into the corner and get him pointing in the right direction for the exit as soon as possible.

It is an unusual style, for the simple reason that it makes the car unstable - but Lewis does not worry about that, he simply corrects the slide he knows is coming and carries on.

Jenson's style is completely different. He likes a stable rear end, using subtly changing pressure on throttle, brake and steering to alter the car's direction. Give him a loose rear end, and he struggles.

Can McLaren provide two cars set up in such different ways? Even if they can, will they want to, given the two varying development paths to which each approach may lead?"

im happy and not....

two british drivers, in a british team(near enough) great news...

but then, mclaren is Hamilton's team, car's will of been more or less designed for his style of driving that wont suit button anywhere near as much, so will be hard for him..

even though he will have no1 on hia car, lewis no doubt will be no1 in the team, but we'll see next year when it's all go go go, in march

This is awesome news for the UK, with Britain's two best drivers being pitted against each other in the same team. But I'm not too sure whether joining McLaren was the best career move for Jenson. Sure, Jenson might be the new world champion, but despite this fact, I'm not sure whether he will be able to match up to Lewis. Don't forget that Jenson's victories had been achieved with the help of the controversial double diffuser, and that he was really struggling at the end when the big guns had finally caught up. Also, during his career so far, Jenson's team-mates have been nowhere near the incredible speed and standard of the younger Lewis. Also, I'm also not sure whether McLaren can develop two completely different cars for Jenson and Lewis, who have completely opposite racing styles and who would be looking for completely different things in their cars. While Lewis would prefer to have a rear end that moves around a lot, Jenson prefers a much more stable rear end, for a start. So, this career move might backfire for Jenson, and he might end up lagging far behind Lewis, just like Heikki, who never managed to reach his potential at McLaren. But if we play our cards right next season, then we will indeed be a force to be reckoned with, in both the WDC and the WCC.

Nevertheless, I am looking very forward to next season, and I see not just us, but several other teams up there, competing for the title.

Murrey said in one of his previews (or questions or something) the two current drivers he'd like in his formula one team would be button and lewis.

I seriously think jenson is being real pigheaded here,

Kimi Raikkonen in my opionion is quicker than Button. No offence to the new World Champion, but he got a good start because at the beginning of the season, his Brawn GP car was untouchable. You know what happened after that. Kimi when given a good car is fast, so assuming McLaren will be quick in 2010, then Lewis Hamilton together with Kimi Raikkonen would of been a very strong line up. But I guess if it is true that Button is weaker than Raikkonen, then given I am a Ferrari tifosa then that is better for me.

Not gonna disagree with you but the team have signed Button so i'll support the team and the teams drivers.

Go Hamilton, Go Button!

Yup AKR you have managed to write a whole post that I completely agree with, but this is the drivers that McLaren now have and I will totally support both of them over the coming years. Go Lewis Go Button Go McLaren

Me too.

It's not my ideal line up but I hope Button proves me wrong next year.

if i do end up watching next year i think ill definitly be skipping the pre show, its gonna be pro mclaren every week :irked:

That's true. As much as I like McLaren, I don't want the BBC to go overboard with pro-McLaren/pro-Britain coverage. I'll still watch the build up but I may be ranting a bit more than usual in the chatroom next year.
