The topic about his cheating is irrelevent. I'm sick of every Piquet thread turning out like this. If you want relieve yourself a bit more, the Piquet-bashing threads are still open...

Is he fast enough to drive for Force India? His results in GP2 speak for itself. He should be given just as much a chance as Timo Glock. Give him 1 season. Give him 1 season in the team that he wants. In the conditions he wants.

I'd, however, prefer to see him at Campos with Senna.

I'd prefer to see him get his arse kicked. That's what that p*ssy needs... and deserves.

It seems I wasted my breath. :)

Unfortunately mate it's still fresh in the memory of many and it will come up time and time again, but you are right it really has very little relevance to this thread. Although that said it does bring up questions about whether Force India would be wise to hire Piquet from a sponsorship point of view; look what happened when Manor talked about hiring the Brazilian; Richard Branson put his foot down saying he wouldn't sponsor a team that had Piquet as a driver, many sponsors want to distance themselves from Piquet!

Personally id like to see him get another shot and see what he really has if anything. I do understand it was a tough environment for him in that team. But its abit hard to forget the whole incident.

I would like to see him given another chance as he was always going to under-perform if he felt pressured; some drivers thrive under pressure; most don't! Formula 1 is littered with incidents of cheating in one way or another over the years; it's just that the governing body is suddenly taking action; thrusting the cheating into the limelight!

liked him beofe F1. he was great in A1 and GP2 and at the A1 at Brands he was really friendly with the fans. I think he has been far too pressured. Briatore is notorious for it and being alongside Mr. hissy fit wouldnt help. Also he's pressured by his family. Ok he has to dael with it and he didnt deal with it. He made a wrong decision but he shouldnt have been put in the position he was and his superuiors should have been mentoring him not encouraging such actions as he took. I think he's much better than we've see.
And like myownalias says cheating has gone on and on and on!! Sometimes it suits the FIA to come down on it and sometimes it doesnt.

I can't believe people are actually still defending this arsehole, you guys are nuts! :hehe:

Some people can handle the pressure and step up where others just bottle it! Why should he deserve an equal chance to someone like Timo Glock, who has more talent and class in his little finger than Piquet Jr could ever hope to have?

I'll lose respect for Force India if they sign that douchebag.

 Especially when it seems like so many other talented drivers aren't getting a shot. If he does get a drive next season, whatever, crashes can make a race more interesting i guess.

So all the times he crashed into people or span off (which probably amounts to nearly 10 incidents in a year and a half) can be attributed directly to Alonso and Briatore? Come on... :hehe:

I'd much rather see people like Kobayashi, Glock, Grosjean, Liuzzi and heck, even Bourdais get a second chance. They all showed as much potential as Piquet, some rather a lot more, and all come without the stigma of a massive cheating scandal.

Hit the nail on the head for me! Those drivers really deserve another chance!

And i thought Force India was on a tight budget! Why would they want a car crasher joining them?!?

I think if they sign him ill be insulted to be an indian myself, all those times i have been jumping off my sofa hoping they would get into to the top 8 and score a point will all go to waste...

I'll give Piquet the benefit of the doubt *should* he drive for Force India; Renault wasn't the best team for him to start his F1 career under the management of Flavio Briatore. Despite his misdemeanour in 2007; I think he deserves a second chance; if he crashes every other race then I'll say that he need to take up a career in radio control car racing!

I don't change any word.

For once - I broke this news first! :D *

There is an Autosport Article for this interview: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80168.

To me it doesn't say anything except he could be in NASCAR or Formula One.
* - See my post in the 2010 Driver Lineups Thread :D

HAHAHAHAHA

I haven't noticed that, sorry. =P
Anyways...I have a guess he will be on Nascar next year.

Bourdais is much more deserving of another shot than Piquet. There's no plausible excuse for him getting the boot, and he has the added benefit of not being a dirty stinking cheat.

Shocking! driver who deliberately crashes a car to fix the result of a race...why in th good old days of Prost and Senna this sort of thing........erm...whoops!
