We've had 2 drivers, Eddie Irvine and John Watson, both of whom were only near champions. No world champions yet sadly :(

But we have Adam Carroll, who I hope will be in F1 next year. The most likely option being with Manor, if they even make the grid. But Carroll comes from Portadown in Northern Ireland, which is 10 or 15 mins from my house, and it's where I passed my driving test (and failed it twice :hehe: )

We've never held a gran prix :irked:

Well I'm British but live in the U.S., so I guess I'll name a fact about the U.S.

Hardly anyone over here even knows what F1 is let alone actually watching it. The usual response I get..."Oh is that like NASCAR?" :irked:

Welcome to the US and Nascar rock's and F1 suck's :hehe: . Why so :irked: as the blame cannot be wholely contributed to us americans  as it takes 2 to Tango and the sooner you realize that the better.

F1 FACT: The USA gets no respect from anyone outside of the USA.

The first ever Grand Prix held at Sliverstone was devised in a pub (The Mitre Oak) local to my home town of Worcestershire by member of the famous Rivers Fletcher family (amongst others) who were on their way from the even more famous Shelsley Walsh hill climb, where my dad frequently competes.

Aintree, now better known for running the Grand National is Britain's only purpose built race track and it remains in its entirity. It opened in 1954 and it hosted the British GP in 55 57 59 61 and 62. Moss won in 55 and this was the first time a British Driver won a British GP.

FACT - the USA does not seek to earn respect from anyone outside of the USA, and therefore should not be surprised when it doesn't receive it.

I'm not sure that's entirely true sadly. I used to go to sprint meetings there and a full lap of the old Grand Prix circuit is no longer possible. I heard a while ago that the new grandstand has meant the loss of what would have been the start/finish straight. Also doesn't Brooklands count as a purpose built racetrack?

My Country, Wales, has only had 1 F1 driver to date. He was decapitated when he hit a marshal on track, the marshal was carrying a fire extinguisher which hit him on the head at 170mph, decapitating him & slicing the marshal into two halves with the front wing. His name was Tom Pryce. RIP Tom. We will have another Welsh driver one day.

How is that an F1 fact?

I took a shot :hehe: but to me it is a fact of F1.

Thats a very narrow minded outlook but I can respect your opinion  .
Now that we are discussing the 'seeking of respect' how do you think we american's should take the constant drivel of "They only know how to turn left", is that in any way, shape or form a showing of respect?? You get what you give.
