:hehe:

I remember reading on this site before the Oz GP that while JB would salary sacrifice, Barichello would earn 0.

And he was only getting paid-per-point.

Button was paid a fixed salary, no Expenses plus I believe performance bonuses. Rubens was paid no salary, but was compensated per point and had his expenses paid.

I think this is good for Formula One. Barrichello is popular and we have an exciting young driver coming into the sport who should be learning from the most experienced driver of all time. If it is true that Rosberg has not been the best driver at developing the car, then Barrichello's arrival will certainly help. However, I'm still not as confident as some people are about Williams' future. I can see them scoring points and getting podiums, but I just don't see where the race victories and titles are coming from. In my opinion, they need some outside investment, which does not necessarily have to come from a car manufacturer. For example, something akin to TAG becoming involved with McLaren could help. It's a shame really, because Williams are an historic team.

Some extracts from a recent interview in Brazil with Barrichello about next season. The original article is in Portuguese but a member of a Williams form has kindly translated some of the key points.

He said the Cosworth engine was very powerful in the tests that he saw, the only question that still needs work is the consumption. They will have until March 2010 to work on the engine and has full confidence in evolution. He also said that is the same engine block for 2006 but fully updated.

He said the budget for 2010 williams is much larger than the brawn of 2009 ..

Will work with the engineer of Rosberg, Tony, and is talking all the days through the Internet. Said the engineer has made a lot of questions.

He said he will only drive the car on February 2, but that may be present in the days of testing for young people later this year watching Hulkenberg.

He spoke well of the technical staff of Williams who is very experienced and also liked the structure Grove compared to other places he worked.

He talked about some problems he had in BranwGP but did not want to extend too.

Also mentioned that the tests of December will not have many new features in the car, perhaps only the larger tank ... without cosworth engines yet.

He saw the car design for 2010 and was very excited, also said that the engine fits very well in the new chassis.

It would seem Williams have had the Cosworth engine for a few months, hence why Patrick Head talked about a "known engine" for 2010 to keep speculation going and to keep Toyota quiet.

Just as I thought, the engine is still very powerful, but Cosworth definately do need to work on fuel consumption which is key next year. Fortunately they have all winter as Rubens said. If the Cosworth is successful, the new teams entering F1 will benefit as well as Williams.
