According to his termination deal with Ferrari, the Italian team has promised to pay Raikkonen €17m if he does not race in F1 next year, and €10m if he finds suitable employment elsewhere.

Realising this, McLaren has reportedly offered Raikkonen just 5 million for the 2010 seat, concluding that €15m in total earnings is a very healthy amount for the 2007 world champion.

Ok... so in other words, McLaren considers Kimi a 15 million dollar a year driver and yet they're trying to haggle him for 5 million via Ferrari's financial lifeboat... which by the way is none of McLaren's business anyway.

If I was Kimi, I'd tell them to jump in a lake.

Cheers

i dont see the problem here... Kimi is being paid for 2010 already its not McLarens fault Ferrari is stupid enough to ditch a driver whilst still in contract.

How much is McLaren paying Hamilton per year.

In 2008 it was something like $138 million over 5 years and the ability for Lewis' manager Anthony Hamilton being able to make separate marketing agreements.

£10-15mil /year for driving

kimi was the higest paid in 07 and 08 i belive 2nd was Alonso

5mil is a fair ammout for Kimi if it allows him not to appear in marketing and sponsorship days you have to remeber lewis 10-15mil means he has to do alot of promo aswell yet kimi hates doing that stuff.

I think Mclaren are doing the right thing. With someone like Kimi it's nie on impossible to read what he's thinking and what his state of mind is.

Basicly they know full well that McLaren is arguably his best chance of being WDC next season. If he isn't on signing it will prove that money means far more more to him than driving in f1.If that is the case they're better off without him anyway.

No I'm talking putting Kamui Kobayashi under contract even as a test driver. He showed a lot in two races for Toyota. :)

If Kimi won't sign for McLaren on their terms **** him, money is more important to him.
Who else is up for a chance of getting a Macca seat next year.
