Until it is confirmed by an official source; I don't by into speculation; all we know is that Barrichello is in talks with Williams F1!

It is true http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... 337807.stm

Wonder when McLaren will make announcement on 2010 drivers

Barrichello said that Mclaren contacted him for the next season, but he didn't wanted. He said Williams is the team he has always wanted to drive for, but I think he didn't choose Mclaren because he wasn´t willing to be second driver once again.

I'm just happy that Rubens will be on the grid next year and with a truelly historic team regardless of their slump. A happy driver is a worthy addition to any team.

Hulkenberg hopes to match Barrichello

By Steven English and Matt Beer Wednesday, November 4th 2009, 11:09 GMT

New Williams signing Nico Hulkenberg hopes he can match his vastly experienced 2010 team-mate Rubens Barrichello from the outset when he makes his Formula 1 debut next year.

Hulkenberg is being promoted from reserve duties to a Williams race seat having won this year's GP2 title, while Barrichello - who has more grands prix under his belt than any other driver in history - moves to the team having challenged for the world championship with current employer Brawn.

When asked how he expected to compare to Barrichello, Hulkenberg replied: "That's difficult to judge. In the beginning of the season it's difficult, I hope to be on his pace right from the beginning and that I can match his speed and results, and maybe even beat him at some point."

Although he said he had no strong feelings about who was chosen to partner him, the young German admitted that having a team-mate of Barrichello's experience offered advantages.

"I don't mind really, I just want to have the best team-mate I can get who is quick, experienced and is a good driver, and that's what I see in him," he said.

"I think I would be stupid if I didn't take advice from him and see how he works through a race weekend. I think I can learn a lot from him."

Hulkenberg is not too concerned about his own lack of experience and the limited testing mileage available before his first race.

"All I can do is take the testing I get, use the simulator as much as I can, and that's all we have so that's all we can do," he said.

"We will get prepared as best we can, go on track racing and see how we do. I just want to deliver consistently, to do a good job and get some points wherever I can."

He added that Williams had not given him any specific targets to achieve in his rookie season.

"Of course they expect something from me, otherwise wouldn't have put me in car," said Hulkenberg, "but they are not telling me I have to win next year or something like that."

I'm quietly very, very confident about this partnership, hopefully a few podiums can come from it.

Yes, it does look good and seems to be a win-win-win situation for all involved: Nico, Rubens, Williams.

You might want to start referring to him as the Hulk, DD as people might think it's Nico Rosberg being referred to. :hehe:

Good to see that the Hulk is hungry to be on the pace immediately and at the same time learn as much as he can from Rubens, and then try and beat him on occasion. :)

Yeah, and NH doesn't help either

Barrichello also revealed that his Brawn contract this year was initially for only the first four races with "the rest depending on my results and my work."

Hmmm that sounds like it could potentially open up a can of worms.

I wonder if Rubens still plans to release that autobiography of his one day?

I hope he does, it would be an interesting read given that he's been in the sport for so long. Pretty sure a lot of environment warriors would hate the idea, though. Think how many pages he'd be capable of filling up! :O

:hehe:

I remember reading on this site before the Oz GP that while JB would salary sacrifice, Barichello would earn 0.

And he was only getting paid-per-point.

He'll probably have it printed on recycled banana peels left behind by Ross Brawn. :P

hahaha...

Not sure if this has been asked yet, but why let Barrichello go? He seemed to be more consistent than Button, of course with less wins, but he seemed pretty solid. Maybe he got lured away with more cash.
