McLaren are better off with Kimi.

nah Kimi is a better move for Kimi than it is for McLaren. They would do better getting a proper number two like Heidfeld, who'll be steady and pick up oints reliably but won't take points off Lewis. There are three options with Kimi:
1. Kimi will beat Lewis, becoming the new McLaren number one and then promptly retire, leaving McLaren with a disgruntled Lewis (he might even leave).
2. Lewis will beat Kimi, and McLaren will have wasted a whole packet of money on him.
3. Lewis and Kimi are a close match and take points off each other regularly to the extent that any other driver in a top car and with less competition from their teammate will snatch the WDC

I think option 3 is the most likely :-?

There is that danger but that could affect SF we need a driver that can compete with Massa and Alonso to take the WCC.

I can't see anyone else available that could do that.

Dammit if only Sato was available....

Of course, Ferrari can potentially have the same problem of drivers taking points off each other, so can Red Bull you have to say...

I would fancy Alonso strongly over Massa and Vettel over Webber. I can't call Kimi/Hamilton though...

I wouldnt write Massa off, he got the better off Schumacher at then end, and had the measure of Kimi. He was able to drive that Ferari and it seems its a handful. Guess it depends what the car is like next year and how well Felipe recovers-he looks fine. Vettel does seem to have the slight upperhand but much is down to Webber being unfit at the start of the season and having no testing. Lewis I think will get the upper hand over Kimi , it will be close but that will just push Lewis further, he's had no competition this year. He handled Alonso as a rookie and he's now more experienced.

Vettel had alot of no points socres

So did Mark, though no fault of his own.

Yep. But you'd think Vettel will learn from his mistakes... but then Webber should also in theory not have to play catch up next season (after minimal pre-season testing this year)!! It's a damn tough call between those two. Edit - same as the others then :hehe:

Is he starting up his own team? :hehe:

It seems to me that Haug and Whitmarsh are trotting out their usual PR nonsense. The dogs on the street know McLaren and Mercedes are going through a rough patch at the moment.

In terms of McLaren's performance, it remains to be seen exactly how good the team will be in 2010. There are a few teams who are potential title contenders, so it's equally possible McLaren could be lurking around the top of the grid, but not having got the edge to win the title, as has been the case in recent years.

Fact of the matter is they'll be bezzy mates again if Mclaren does well in 2010 and Brawn not so well.

McLaren should NEVER be counted out as a contender and I expect to see them consistently back upfront sooner than later but only time will tell.

They are consistently up front already. What on earth are you on about? They only finished 1 position down in the WCC year from last year. And next season will be a cracker. :cloud9:

Daym even when I give support and props to McLaren, which I have always done fyi  I get hassled, very tiresome to say the least. Do you need a hug??
