WOW. Thats a turn up!!

For real, came out of nowhere. When they signed up as the sole supplier they were in love with the idea.

I am very surprised by Bridgestone's sudden decision to pull out of F1 next year, you'd think they would be happy as F1's sole tyre supplier!

I would like to see a return of the tyre wars, especially if Michelin, Goodyear and Pirelli's super-sticky qualifiers returned.

I would like to see multiple tyre manufacturers come back, anything to move away from the constant standardisation of F1 cars. It just creates another variable in which clever engineers can exploit their situation, which is most definitely a good thing. However, i wouldn't like things to go to how they were in 2006, with the ridiculous amount of marbles even slightly off line as soon as half way through the races! I doubt that would be as bad an issue with the slicks though.

I would like to see multiple tyre manufactures back but they need to control the costs some sort of budget cap would be needed i think.

Hm. If Bridgestone aren't replaced by two or more tyre manufacturers, I'll be disappointed. We need to go back to the days where there were two different brands having advantages at different tracks.

Sadly F1 will remain with a control tyre. The tyre war is too dear in this "cost cutting" agenda which the FIA have at the moment, plus it does push up speeds.

Michellin won't come back, I really don't know who will.

Dunlop, Pirelli? I can't see Goodyear to be honest.

Just remembered something, didn't Pirelli sign up for the "prestigious" GP3 Championship?

Pirelli - awesome qualifying tyres in the 80s. Race tyres not so much.

Bernie will find a way anyways. This reminds me of the infamous Grand Prix at Kyalami that the FOCA took part in. Of course it was declared illegal by the FISA and did not count for the championship.

Anyways to cut a long story short, Goodyear had pulled out of the sport in Dec 1979 due to the continued political wrangling. This pretty screwed the majority of the FOCA teams as they were supplied by Goodyear.

So to stage the race the team ran on old used tyres - under the branding of Ecclestone International Tyres. :hehe:

Pirelli do the WRC so i doubt they'd want to get involved in F1 too.

Indeed and I also think that Pirelli are maybe too small for an F1 operation.

Quite shocking news I must say now let the tires wars and speculation begin, great off-season banter don't ya think  !! I would like to see several different tire manufactures involved to be honest but if not I'll still be ok with whoever steps up to the plate.

You 99% correct about that but I must give the remaining 1% to Benetton and Gerhard Berger in Mexico for choosing the right compound of Pirelli, that was an awesome race. :)

What about companies like Yokohama and Continental? Pretty left field suggestions i know, but Continental are the 4th biggest tyre company in the world i think... after Bridgestone, Goodyear and Michelin.

If it has to be a control tyre, get them back on Goodyear Eagles.

Continental would be good. Only because they sponsor the Champions league.

Goodyear would be excellent, but I can't see it myself.

i have toyo tires on my car, good make lol, but what companies out there have the resources to [and desire to] make a tyre to f1 standards, and with the single tyre, not much sponsorship attention.

i prefer 1 tyre, cause its not something the teams have control over, it stops the best team/package winning and is completely different to, say engines,
