It shows how poor the newbies have been that Kobayashi has such a lead in this poll.

:hehe: True

But to be fair, this year has been unfair on rookie drivers. At least when Vettel started in 2007, he had some friday testing, as did Nakajima. This year drivers have been thrown in the deep end and it shows. They under-preform.

I think give Grosjean a drive next year, and he would be competitive. But not in Renault. I think he would better off with a new team. Less pressure and more room to learn. Renault haven't been a great team for rookie drivers lets be honest.

Kobayashi was nothing short of impressive for his first weekend. Still I don't think it's fair to judge the rookies this year. Give them time over the winter, and another season, then judge.

Sebastien Buemi gets my vote as he has scored 5 points this season in which Toro Rosso have been well off the pace, he has at times shown good speed during the race & in qualifying. He just needs to work on his consistency.

Kamui Kobayashi would get best rookie of Brazil GP 2009 but the chap was in a very fast car. Trulli would have fought for the win had he not got himself involved in that first lap mayhem.

Strange isn't it - the two guys who didn't look like good prospects at all have turned out to be able to hold their own in F1. :scratchchin:

I think anyone who had anything bad to say about Kobayashi after Brazil should now thoroughly eat their words.

He was amazing. A little fact, the STR is now the same car as the works Red Bull since Suzuka. Red Bull did this in hope that STR could run interference with Brawn. So during the Abu Dhabi race, compare Buemi who's had all season long and was driving the same car that won the race, to Kobayashi who was only in his 2nd race with hardly any experience what-so-ever.

He started 12th whilst Truili started 6th. Yet Kobayashi still beat his experienced team-mate in only his second race. Not many drivers can say that. At this rate, Kobayashi could be a star of the future, but lets wait and see.

While the chassis is the same, it's the engine (and the weight distribution issues and so on) that makes the diffence between the two cars. Well, that and the difference in driver ability, but that goes without saying. I still think Buemi has done a good job this year.

That said, my vote goes to Kobayashi after today's race! I really look forward to seeing him properly next season, can't say the same about any of the other rookies really, although Alguesari surely still has more to offer at his age.

My vote stays with Buemi. I still look forward to seeing Kobayashi next season because he was class in Abu Dhabi.

Koboyashi simply because he drove his heart out in both GP's he was in - "quick straight out if the box" a well worn motor racing phrase but it fits him to a tee.

Its worth saying Kobi is Genuinely good as aposed to the others being so bad he wins.

I have to say that he really was that good.

He beat Truili in only his second F1 race, and we know how fast Truili can be. Most rookie's can't beat their experienced team-mates 2 races in, after a month of testing.

I liked this story. Kobayashi looked like his racing career was going to be over after this year.

But given an opportunity he undoubtedly proved he deserves a drive next year. Bit of an inspirational story.

I think it's a tie between Yoshi (Kobayashi) & Buemi.

All year round Buemi has been fantastic. From the first race I knew he was going to be good. He is a great rookie. I voted for him.
Equally as good is Yoshi. Who, if he doesn't get a drive next year (which he probably will) will be serving sushi at his fathers restaurant.(It's True). Hes just what we need in F1, a rookie that isn't afraid to battle with World Champion, Jenson Button.
