Then who would you bet on? Let's suggest that Kimi will join McLaren and both teams will have fairly competitive cars.
In my opinion we would have four of the best drivers in the league going against each other and the thing is - Massa is more hungrier than ever, Alonso said he's on top of his game and in his best shape of his career, Kimi has shown this season that he's still a top gun, Lewis has been in the league for three years and showing signs of experience for me.

Who's gonna come out of them and why? Let's be intelligent and percise so we don't turn this thread into a stupid arguing session.

I support Lewis and believe he's got what it takes to win a championship, but I'm really afraid of Alonso. He's been in a quite shitty team for two seasons and has every reason to race his heart out now. He is also very consistent and a good qualifyer, which is a big thing next season with no refuelling.

Well if the big guns are firing for McLaren and Ferrari, it's fair to say they will be the pace setters in 2010. I do feel bad for Heikki though, especially since he went fastest in today's practice.

I've always been a fan of the underdog teams though, so i'll be looking to see the new teams up there and hopefully some results for Toro Rosso :)

Kovy is a great qualifyier but he can't be on the right pace in races, which is why McLaren is looking for another driver

This season he's looked like he's less concerned with getting results as he is with not trashing the car. His first season, he was driving like a lunatic and getting good results, but ever since he's had more to lose he seems to be weighed down with the pressure.

Out of those two i'd probably edge it for McLaren, but it really is far too early for anyone to realistically make a truly accurate or informed prediction on this one. I say i'd bet McLaren cause they have the momentum going into next season and Ferrari seem to be in a transitional period with regard to their engineers and backroom staff, but that said, Ferrari will have spent more time on the car for next year because they stopped development earlier on this car, something which i think may have been a good call because the rules changes for next year will have a drastic effect on the basic design philosophy of the cars... tough call! :scratchchin: McLaren really do need to get Raikkonen though, otherwise they're going to struggle to challenge the Constructor's title. Well, unless they create a car massively faster than the opposition, which let's face it, isn't really going to happen in this day and age.

However, i'd be surprised if Red Bull weren't right up there next season at the very least - i personally think they'll be the team to beat. Not to mention Brawn, who many seem to already be writing off for next season (seemingly only based on the fact that some other teams managed to catch up with them this season  ).

I'd take Heikki over Kimi any day.
McLaren should be working with up-and-coming drivers, and building relationships with them, instead of opting for the "safe" bet. Having said that, I think Kimi's career is winding down anyway, and is unlikely to compete for another championship.

If KERS then Macca?
If not then Fezza?

I think their KERS systems are actually pretty similar on most levels these days... certainly in performance judging by Raikkonen's starts in this part of the season.

Kovalainen isn't really up and coming now though, and he's just been slow since he went to McLaren. He actually reminds me of Fisichella... fast on the occasional weekend then nowhere at most other races. It's usually been McLaren's policy to go for the best two drivers available (which is how it should be i think), and there are several available drivers who are better, or at least look like better prospects than Kovalainen.

No comment ie I plead the 5th. :D

that would be Vettel?

What perception did you recieve from my reply that I was referring to Vettel???

I'm a castaway in the sense that I currently have no team or driver that I will back/support 100%.

Then I got your post wrong

I don't think it's going to be a straight battle between the two.

If I had to say one I would go with Ferrari on the grounds that they we're ahead before they stopped developing this years car.Think they've been a touch infront since the major rule changes.
