Drop your investigation against Lewis. He's our Savior. Get down on your knees people, our Savior has returned in the form of Lewis Hamilton. Talk about special treatment! We thought that by Michael's departure we'll be done with the preferential treatment in F1. Welcome to the new era of Hamilton/FIA. I'll give LH at most 1-2 years until people (especially those who didn't like MS) start seeing the resemblance between him and MS. Here's the article:

Ecclestone hails Hamilton as saviour of Formula One

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has hailed Lewis Hamilton as the saviour of the sport.
While the 22-year-old McLaren driver prepared for a Chinese Grand Prix that could make him Formula One's first rookie champion on Sunday, leading lights led a chorus of praise for Hamilton.
McLaren's Formula One driver Hamilton of Britain smiles before a practice session for the Chinese F1 Grand Prix in Shanghai
"Lewis Hamilton has been a real breath of fresh air and has resurrected Formula One," the Guardian newspaper quoted commercial rights holder Ecclestone, who is not in Shanghai, as saying.
"I have been in motor racing longer than I care to remember but I have never seen anyone like him. He has been nothing short of a miracle worker.
"We lost a big hero in Michael Schumacher but in Lewis we have another. But for him I'm not sure where the sport would be heading," he said.
Hamilton, winner of four races so far this year, leads team mate and double world champion Fernando Alonso by 12 points with just one race remaining after Sunday.
He has already claimed a string of records, including first rookie to finish his opening nine races on the podium, youngest British race winner and first driver to score 100 points from his first 15 starts.
If he dethrones Alonso, he will also replace the Spaniard as Formula One's youngest champion.
"It is painfully obvious to me that the right guy to be world champion is Lewis," said Ecclestone.
"In fact my main fear would be if he didn't win it. Kimi Raikkonen barely talks to anyone and as such has done little for the sport, and as for Fernando Alonso, in his two years as world champion he has done nothing."
Damon Hill, Britain's last world champion with Williams in 1996, said he was "totally amazed" by what Hamilton had achieved.
Frank Williams, Hill's former boss, compared Hamilton to Ferrari's seven times world champion Schumacher and the late Brazilian champion Ayrton Senna.
"He is very special. Once every 10 years they come along, like Ayrton and Michael. It is a very rare event and a fantastic event and a story for Formula One," he told a news conference at the Shanghai circuit.
Ferrari boss Jean Todt added his compliments: "Normally a very talented driver in their first year in F1 doesn't drive for a winning team with a winning car," he said.
"That was the opportunity he had and he used it very well. We can only have respect and admiration for what he has achieved this year."
Hamilton's own team boss, Ron Dennis, said the facts were plain to see.
"He has broken more records than any other young driver and I think the records speak for themselves. We can all eulogise about his achievements but I think actions speak louder than words," he said.
"He is just an exceptional talent and I am sure he will set many more records in the future."

If you have issues with that, then that's your problem. Every now and again in many sports someone young and new comes in and makes an impression and I'm pretty sure that Hamiltons appearance in F1 has attracted the attention of a lot of people that wouldn't otherwise have shown any interest.
It is also a fact that he has started breaking the records already and that he is more outgoing than many established F1 characters so other than being a bit of a sucky article I don't see why it's worthy of such a mention.

Oh, and why is this a message to the stewards?

There is no doubt Hamilt has made an impression and is special, however, I'm sure Kubica, Rosberg, Vettel etc. could have done a similar job if they were at Ferrari or McLaren.

I doubt it but then it's always safe to speculate about the outcome of something that hasn't happened and isn't likely to happen anytime soon I suppose. Although, perhaps if one of them replaces Alonso next season, we'll see.

Hamilton has come out and said Kubica is a guy he thinks will cause him problems in the future. If Hamilton is the standard, then Kubica (et al.) cannot be too far off.

It's not as simple as that. Basically, I think there are a lot of very talented drivers in Formula One at the minute and although Hamilton is very good, he is not the only one who is very good.

Apart from the fact that we'll never know if any of those other drivers could've accomplished what Hamilton has so far, if Kubica or anyone else had come into F1 and done what Hamiltons done there would be the same feelings towards him and you would be saying 'I'm sure Hamilton could've done the same job had he been at Ferrari or Mclaren. The thing is, whether you like it or not you cannot deny that Hamilton has made a huge impact on the sport which is what the OT is all about rather than ifs and buts.

I agree and am not denying anything. What I'm speaking out against are the people who think Hamilton is the be-all and end-all when there are a lot of other talented guys out there, but in inferior cars.

Like I said... time will tell. Next season I see Kovalainen in Alonso's seat... straight swap with Renault so no additional expense on top of the $100million. I'd love to see Alonso on gardening leave but I think the first option is most likely. Then we can test your theory.

Hamilton has been very lucky so far. I'm not denying that he's a very talented driver. He could become one of the best in F1 history. What I'm pointing to is the special treatment that he'll be getting from the FIA. One of the reasons why I never liked Michael is because of that thing. And I have a feeling that Hamilton will walking in Michael's shoes in terms of having 1 set of rules for him and another set of rules for all the other drivers. Again, there is no doubt about his high skills but he had it so easy all along. Being nurtured by RD and suddenly he arrives at McL which happened to have the best car in the season. I bet if you put Nick, Kubica, Kovalainen in his seat they will be performing as well. I found these quotes that seem to be interesting:

Reigning world champion Alonso, who is 12 points behind Hamilton after his Fuji Speedway crash, said Hamilton had been warned by race director Charlie Whiting about his driving behind the safety car at Monza last month, after ‘some drivers complained.’
"The race director reminded us before Fuji what you can do - warm up your tyres, zig-zag, but with a constant speed.
"He said 'you can move, but not change your speed all the time'."

and this link where Massa talks about LH's incident:

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/06102007/ ... ubica.html

and some of what he had to say:

Felipe Massa says the stewards were wrong to penalise Robert Kubica last Sunday but not Lewis Hamilton.
BMW Sauber's Kubica at Fuji Speedway was given a drive-through penalty for tagging Hamilton while trying to pass for position, but Hamilton - a week later in the Shanghai paddock - was given the all-clear for driving erratically behind the safety car.

Yes Lewis is lucky to have started in a top team. He is not the first to do so but he is the most impessive. Whatever your motives for thinking otherwise he has had an outstanding start in F1,

"The only thing that is so special about LH is that he's British as well as Bernie and Max and Ron and McLaren" quote factman. FACT man?????

MMM. Max hates his guts and particularly the guts of Ron Dennis aka McLaren. Bernie loves whoever will make him the most money. Yes Ron must be particularly proud and pleased that his protege has outstripped all expectations of him.
