I think this is actually quite an interesting thread. I really don't know a lot about this, but I assumed that Man developed clothing initially as protection from the elements. Over time, as know how and technology developed, I guess clothing became more elaborate, and people with better clothing were those more skilled and with the means and time to produce it. Thus, it also developed into a kind of a status symbol. Also an issue, I think, is that humans are inherently tetchy about umpalumpa. Because of emotions such as jealousy, and as customs of marriage developed, covering up the sexual parts in particular occurred. Over time, then, I suppose clothing, especially that which covered up the sexual parts, became the norm. So, is there anything intrinsically wrong with nudity? No, but there are reasons why it is extremely taboo.

I guess, in terms of the law, the question is - Does your right to be naked supersede my right not to see you naked?

I can understand that some people have no problem with nudity, but the majority of the population (at least in my country) do have a problem with it. I can't speak for everyone but if I was confronted by a naked man, whom I didn't know, I would feel intimidated. I imagine a lot of women would feel the same way.

Id feel a little scared if I was tbh, some strange naked man walking up to me in the street- not what I want really.

I agree and by legalising public nudity we would be allowing for that situation. People, particularly women, may feel intimidated and/or even threatened in those circumstances. I personally don’t believe that one’s right to be naked should be more important than one’s right to feel safe.

After seeing that picture I'm also going to add hygiene to the list of reasons for not legalising public nudity

It's one thing choosing to have umpalumpa on a kitchen table and quite another having to use furniture that a random stranger has been sat on naked. I'd have to go around with a bag of baby wipes
