Dennis’s decision to step back is also likely to be a consequence of pressure exerted by Anthony Hamilton, the world champion’s father and manager.

I think Dad's as managers are just as bad as team owners being drivers managers.

yup - read this as well a while ago and word has it that sir anthony is once again going to start threatening a pullout move if mclaren dont keep heiki or take on a driver that might upstage wonderboy.... what a croc !!

If McLaren are looking for a safe pair of hands alongside Lewis to help them in the constructors title then they should look to Rubens. He will be far cheaper, more motivated, just as quick, an ace at helping with car setup / development and just as quick.

In a September post I favored teaming Rubens with Lewis at McLaren. Rubens to McLaren in 2010, may be the best-kept secret in F1. And Kimi staggers over to Toyota with a Smirnoff Vodka sponsorship, and unlimited access to the store. :)

The date of that article is April 09 which is after "lie-gate"

But in truth Ron Announced this in January as he was going to leave the F1 side of things to head up Mclaren Automotive.

This is rubbish. lewis wants to win by being the best and Mclaren want the best driver they can get in the other McLaren. Boys stop dreaming up fairy tales

I think Horner has ruled out the option of Kimi taking Webber's seat I think it's a straight fight between McLaren and Toyota. Toyota will probably be willing to pay him more but Kimi has better prospects at McLaren where he is likely to get a much better car. Hopefully the McLaren will be fast out the box in 2010 and there is no doubting the development pace that McLaren can achieve.

This. I thought McLaren always had the mentality of getting the very best drivers available (and there's surely no doubting that Raikkonen is that man at the moment), and you'd think that, from their point of view, it's worth paying the extra for Raikkonen so that they can actually have a shot at both titles - something that isn't possible with second rate drivers like Slowvalainen.

I think Kimi's decision will be based on who will offer him the most ice cream and cola, or if any of the teams take on companies that are connected with such products, so maybe it would be McLaren seeing as they have Nescafe as a sponsor - who are part of Nestle if I remember rightly.

Also I still believe McLaren have ties with Johnnie Walker. :hehe:

Well, Toyota have made Raikkonen an offer:

Raikkonen has an offer from Toyota

By Pablo Elizalde Tuesday, October 20th 2009, 08:46 GMT

Kimi Raikkonen has an offer from Toyota for the 2010 season, and team president John Howett believes the Finn could fit well in the Japanese squad.

"We don't play too many games," Howett told Reuters. "We put on the table what we can afford and what we think is a serious offer in the current market.

"I think genuinely we could work well with him, give him a car that's quick."

He added: "We have had very good relationships with Scandinavian drivers in the rallying times that enjoy life and it works very well, so we could cope with it as a team."

Raikkonen is yet to decide on his future after agreeing to leave the Ferrari team a year before the end of his contract in order to make way for Fernando Alonso.

The Finn has made it clear that he is only interested in staying in Formula 1 if he can fight for wins straight away.

Howett, who had insisted it was very unlikely that Jarno Trulli would stay at the team next year, said the Italian has an offer from Toyota.

He also said the team is still in talks with Timo Glock.

"With both drivers we are still maintaining a degree of discussion," said Howett.

"We have put an offer on the table with Jarno, I think that he himself is not dissatisfied with the financial offer, the bottom line to some extent is certain issues on the contract and I don't think they are negotiable from our side.

"He may well be in the car next year but it's not at all clear."

I still think it's McLaren, Red Bull or nothing for him though.
