I personally don't believe anyone to blame. In my opinion mark was far to close to Lewis car. Lewis was backing away from the SC. Mark should have been 5 car length away from Lewis car something webber conveniently forgotten.

It's possible but does no-one else find it odd that Lewis went onto the outside line which no-one else took and actually slowed down so much he was over 5 cars from the safety car?

F1 regs are
"The safety car shall be used at least until the leader is behind it and all remaining cars are lined up behind him. Once behind the safety car, the race leader must keep within five car lengths of it."

Webber wan't even that close anyway 'til Hamilton braked. Besides I'm fed up of it now and I'm sure everyone is by now - F1 officials will make the decision they make. It's all but over anyway :)

Very interesting what Mark said just after the race

WEBBER GUTTED AFTER VITTEL ENDS THE AUSSIE'S SUPERB PERFORMANCE
30 September 2007 | 8:06pm

Mark Webber's heroic efforts in today's rain-affected Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji ended in bitter, bitter disappointment on lap 46 out of 67 when the Red Bull Racing driver was wiped out of second place by Torro Rosso's rookie driver, Sebastian Vettel, while the race was under the control of the Safety Car. Up until that point, Webber had done a brilliant job, overcoming a nasty dose of sickness, thought to be either food poisoning or a bug, which had almost forced him to retire from the race in the early stages. Nevertheless, he recovered sufficiently to be able to continue and managed the tricky track conditions superbly to work his way up into second place behind McLaren driver and world championship leader, Lewis Hamilton.

After torrential rain all morning which continued as the race approached, race organisersannounced that the Grand Prix would commence under the Safety Car. Webber, who had qualified seventh, slotted into fifth place when the Ferrari pairing of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen pitted for tyresearly under the Safety Car behind Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Nick Heidfeld and Jenson Button. However, a collision between Button and Heidfeld seconds into the race proper on lap 19, forced Webber to stop in avoidance and this allowed Vettel through into third spot behind the two McLaren drivers. Webber was lapping quicker than Vettel as track conditions improved marginally and by the time Alonso and Hamilton had made their one and only pit stop of the race, Webber was up into second place, less than three seconds behind Vettel. The young Torro Rosso driver pitted on lap 31 and Webber upped his pace as he took over the lead of the race, some 25 seconds ahead of second placed Heikki Kovalainen.

Webber pitted on lap 36 and such was his earlier pace he re-emerged in fifth place having jumped Vettel in the stops and was almost five seconds down the road from the German. Once Kovalainen, Giancarlo Fisichella and Webber's team-mate, David Coulthard had all pitted, Hamilton led from Webber and Vettel. However, there was to be yet another twist in the race when Alonso crashed heavily on lap 43, necessitating another Safety Car period. As is the norm, the cars held station behind the official pace car but inexplicably Vettel careered into the back of Webber, putting the Australian out of the race on the spot.

"That was a completely disastrous finish," said a crest-fallen and angry Webber afterwards, "We were in very, very good shape to challenge Lewis for first today. We were strong and I didn't make any mistakes despite the tricky conditions; cars were aquaplaning and the visibility was very poor. Fernando's crash caused the second Safety Car stint which bunched everyone back up again. That wasn't great; I would have liked to have continued to race to the end. Vettel was a bit wild behind me during the first safety car period and then did a very good job of hitting me very hard under the second safety car. I think today he will have learnt a very valuable lesson but it came at my expense. Today could have been so good for both of us and our teams. With David also getting points, Red Bull could have come away from today's race in fourth place in the championship..."

The F1 circus moves onto Shanghai, China next weekend for the penultimate round of the championship.

No one to blame, first mark did blame Vettel. Then mark and vettel got together and decided to blame Lewis, both drivers got the same boss.

I agree. As I said on another thread, it looked as though Hamilton went wide, possibly down to the conditions, and then Webber braked so not to overtake Hamilton. Vettel then ran into the back of Webber. The investigation has been initiated by the FIA to provide a proper title-deciding race in Brazil. Webber is a good driver, but an arse hole. First, he comes out and blames Vettel, calling him all the names of the day, then, it's suddenly Hamilton's fault.

Lewis should talk up because loser Webber is deciding the out come of WDC, which can't be right. What a vile loser webber is.

It will the FIA who decide's not Webber so dont put all the blame on him. I salute the FIA for taking notice of the situation and investigating.

Webber was first blaming VITTEL, now he blaming Lewis. As for the FIA, given Max Oswald Mosley, history Lewis won't get a fair hearding. It's a fix up job.

Seems to me that if they all thought Hamilton was too close to the safety car they themselves should have backed off - no evidence as far as I can see that they were any more respobnsible!!! Whole season as you say is a total farce - and all seem to be out to stop Hamilton from winning title - obviously his talent has scared them all!!!

I agree 100% and we all know why mark upset and it nothing to do with Lewis driving.......

I agree too. Lewis asked repeatedly that Webber be asked to stay back but he kept almost overtaking Lewis! Lewis cannot overtake the safety car! You have to respond toi the car in front not ignore it!!

Anyone using the word "racist" should be given a 100-posts penalty by the Moderators.

Yes and it should be a retrospective penalty... at least we wouldn't have listen to your tiresome crap.
In the meantime, it seems to me that Webber is just having a hissy fit. Let's face it, to all of a sudden start blaming Hamilton after initially blaming Vettel is a bit rich. Webber was too close, had to brake and Vettle was too close to Webber and not paying attention. Hamilton was on the other side of the track, probably because he was in danger of becoming the filling for a Webber/ Safety car sandwich. The track is the track and a driver is perfectly entitled to be on any part of the track he chooses, as long it is not a part of the track that happens to occupied by another driver at the time... ergo, it was ultimately Vettle's fault. Get over it .

If this was Alonso or Michael would (fia Max Mosley) be investigating I don't think so.
