OK, so we've had what car you'd like as your next car, and what you currently drive...so how about a thread on your car history?

For me:

1. Fiat Tipo 1.9L Turbo Diesel, white
Bought it when I was 16 fully intending to learn to drive when I was 17. Never got around to driving until I was 20, by which time my parents had 'indefinitely borrowed' my car :( Had an electronic dashboard which had an intermittent short somewhere so I would regularly do -999 mph :)

2. 998cc Nissan Micra, red.
Old box-shape stylee. Awesome fun although astoundingly slow. Work colleagues used to take great pleasure in picking the car up (it was really light - two people could pick it up with ease) and moving it so I had to hunt around the car park for my car when it was time to go home.

3. Fiat Coupe 20V NA, portofino
From the moment I saw on parked on the street, I wanted one so bought one just after I passed my test. Couldn't insure it for a month as the difference between being 20 and 21 made about £23k difference to my insurance premium. Love the car so much I still have her as my daily hack

4. Lotus Exige
Guaranteed to bring a smile to my face. Not much more I can say about her really!

1. 1996 Vauxhall Corsa
2. 2004 Vauxhall Corsa

That's all so far, I finish paying off my current car next year, so I plan to get it paid off in time for my 25th birthday when my insurance goes down again and get something a bit more ambitious. :)

Rover Metro 1.1 - Legend of a car really used to throw it around and rev the nuts off it, but i was very young and very stupid and was told doing that to a car means it probably won't last 18 months but it did 2 years of abuse until the mechanic at the garage told me it would be best to set it on fire rather than try and repair it.

So sold it to a collage for £75 (i paid £100 for it) so the engineering students could learn how an engine worked.

Vauxhall Vecta 1.8 LX Auto

After my metro broke,... sorry i broke my metro i used my dad's car for abit since he didn't need to drive much. (I didn't tell him what the mechanic said about my metro) driving a vectra made me realise what a bad handing car really was it was like driving a sponge if you had tried to corner at any speed.

Good for Cruising on motorway tho or driving in traffic because it was automatic, but apart from that rubbish.

Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia

Got a Focus next because as soon as i had a test drive i understood what a good handling car is supposed to drive like.

Its really quick too prob only abit slower than the ST170 great fun to drive really like it.

Prob keep it for another year then get something abit quicker, like an RX8

Only had 3 cars prior to this one.
1st hand-me-down. Great car, lots of memories in this one. Had it from ages 19-27. I still miss it. This isn't my pic, but identical color and mine was in slightly better condition.
Image

2nd hadn-me-down. Didn't have it as long, tranny/transfer case blew and was in market for new car anyways because we were expecting our daughter's birth soon.
Image

1st car I actually purchased. Had to buy it in a hurry, and only had it for 1 year because I wanted to buy my current car.

Sometime in the 1990s ... sometime after 1994 ... possibly, I bought a 1971 Triumph Herald, mustard yellow in colour. I drove it all of two times before I realised I had a phobia of driving. The car remained undriven on my driveway for two years until it was sold for one tenth of the price I paid for it. Hey-ho.

Stealthgate,
Man I would love to have one of those XR4Ti's. Years back I read an article about some tuner that built one with over 400whp and over 400ftlb's at the wheels with simple bolt-on's. I would really like to have one of the Cosworth models from the euro market.
