If you want to know what 24% of 60 is, divide 60 by 100 and multiply the answer by 24... i think!

Looks like you got away with that one scotty. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone :hehe:

Erm, thanks? :?

and youre an engineeeeeeer :P

I'm confused, does that method not work or something? I was drunk when i posted last night, maths and alcohol don't mix. :hehe:

edit: i see now, misread the frigging post. What percentage of 60 is 24, not what is 24% of 60.

Thanks. So if I want to find what % 24 is of 60. I do 24divide 60. Is that right? and thats .4 so imove the point and it becomes 40, so 40% Why the hell do calculators have a % button if you have to do that? But thanks. I have to find percentags of children achieving certain grades :yawn:

The % key is useless. The only use I see is if you wanted to calculate 40% of 60: you enter 40, press the % button which turns the display to 0.4, then multiply with 60 = 24.
Since I know that 40% is 0.4, I simply multiply 0.4 with 60 and bypass the stupid % function.

It works!! What you said works. Whey! Why doesnt someone invent a calculator with a % button that works properly! But your way is easy :)

You got one already:

I do such simple math in my head most of the time - keeps the gray cells humming

Mine doesnt work like yours. My right side dominates (apart from spatial awareness issues). But the nude spinning figure says im left. Im definately not left!!

The spinning figure says I'm 'right brain functioning' which is absolute rubbish, I'm about as left as they come.

So i had a look on google about this 'nude spinning figure' and it's fascinating stuff, which way does everyone see it going? (sorry, i'm utterly amazed by how the brain works and am interested to know :P )

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0 ... m=valueAdd

Although going off the attributes listed for each side there, i don't fit into either category.... plus if i concentrate i can see it spinning anticlockwise as well as clockwise (which was my initial impression).... argh, brain going into overdrive! And can anyone else manage to see the figure spinning both ways? That freaked me out.

I couldn't get her to spin the other way, I think only Uri Geller will be able to make her do that.

Maybe if it was something different from a "nude woman" that might have helped.

:hehe: Which one are you then? I don't know how to put it, but if you look at the outer leg and try to see it going in front/behind (whichever is appropriate) as it goes from one side to the other... that's how i could see it anyway.

Still not sure how that provides a good indicator of which side of the brain you predominantly use, thinking about it. :?

To me she was going clockwise. I tried looking at it differently too like you said and imagining that it is going anti-clockwise, but my brain wouldn't have it. :P

I can spin her around in both directions. Just look at her foot (and the shadow) to make her spin the other way

yeah same for me i read the description before it loaded and thought "ah i'll be left then"

was right? bits of the right side apply to me but its a lot more left....random.

Try as I might (and I really have tried), she just spins Clockwise for me. I still reckon they've got it the wrong way round, I'm definitely maths/science/logic etc. and I've never taken a big risk in my life. Some of those characteristics make no sense to me. What the hell is "knows object name/knows object function" meant to mean? I usually manage both just fine
