The end of the tournament is not as exciting as you all think. Hendry will crush the others with ease. (Sorry, I'm in 2009, not the 1990s. But he's still in with a chance. :) )

People who say O'Sullivan is the greatest ever have very short memories and fail to consider the modern tables allow players to attempt more ambitious shots. The only things I've seen O'Sullivan do better than Hendry involve safety play and playing left handed. Hendry invented single-handedly invented modern snooker and is the best all-round player the game has ever seen.

Oh yeah of course, but so can everyone. Ronnie's problem has always been his consistency which stems completely from his unpredictable mood swings. However, at his best, I do believe he's unbeatable and I'm fairly sure I've even heard Hendry say that.

I meant even when playing well over a match the other top players are able to still edge him out. He shows flashes certainly, but he's not really dominate, which I think is a great thing for snooker. You never really know whoes going to win the frame let alone match or tournament. And it doesn't really have boring phases.

My memory is fine thanks. I knew this would cause a ruckus which is why I said it was an opinon. The Hendry/O'Sullivan debate has a tendency to get as heated as the Senna/Schumacher debate.

I'd give Hendry consistency over Ronnie too.

The thing is, however, that mental stamina is part of playing snooker, just as, say, cardiovascular fitness is important in football. Therefore, at his best, O'Sullivan plays a few excellent sessions, then the wheels fall off. At his best, Hendry plays all of his sessions excellently. In fact, the one thing that people hold against Hendry is that he is a bit of a machine (a bit unfair), which is understandable, as people love personalities, but I don't think it's fair in analysing who's the better player.

There are times when he's unstoppable but his temperament is often his failing. I suppose I admire his skill and 'genius' around the table, when he's in the right frame of mind, more than anything.

I completely understand where you're coming from, it's the problem many people have with Ronnie. I supose it all boils down to how you're judging 'greatness' and what particular skill you value more highly in a player. I'm willing to overlook the inconsistency because when Ronnie's at his best, I find him simply mesmerizing, but I understand that not everyone sees it that way.

I would say that if O'Sullivan wasn't my no.1 then Hendry certainly would be.

Have to agree with it in most part.I personally think Hendry is the best ever, but can easily see why people say Ronnie is.

I remember a mid session with Hendry when he hit over 500 points in four frames and the guy he was playing had four shots.Just the same as Ronnie at his best you cant play against that.

If they were in the same generation Hendry would of won more titles, but that doesn't mean your a better player in my mind.

Like drivers of each generation, its down to personal preferance.Different people see different things in players /drivers its that what makes things interesting. If we all thought the same the world would be a boring place :hehe:
