I think it's an utter disgrace that the current FIA president has come out and said Vatenen will lose badly.

It shows just how corrupt the FIA are, and its an utter disgrace. Todt looks more like a puppet right now, who will be brought in to continue usual FIA rule. F1 should be run by people who are at the tracks every weekend, who have been in the sport for years and know the sport inside and out. Not armchair experts who are in F1 for money and power.

People like Ian Philps, who have forgotten more about F1 than people know. Or drivers like Jackie Stewart and Johnny Herbert. Guys who have actually done great good in motorsport before.

Vatenen has just as much right to be FIA president as Jean Todt. But the difference in my opinion is that Vatenen has been on the other side of the fence, he's been a driver and he understands where both sides are coming from. Thats why I think he should FIA president.

JT used to be a rally driver and co-driver until 1981.

I do indeed know that.

But I meant to imply that Todt appears to be under the influence of the corrupt FIA. Thus why they want him to win. So they can continue to control F1. If Todt becomes president, I wouldn't expect him to act like he's been on the other side of the fence.

I personally don't like Todt or politics.

There's an illogical assumption here that because Todt is favoured by the majority of the FIA, that he must be under their control.

That doesn't follow at all. There are only two candidates, and just because the FIA as a whole prefers one, doesn't mean that candidate will be fully under their control once he actually has the position of president. It just means that they prefer him to the other candidate.

Up until the time of the vote, both candidates are heavily under the influence of The FIA, as they have to curry votes and influence among voting members. After the votes are cast, Todt (if he wins) will then be in a quite different position, and can do what he wants. Whether it's Todt or Vatanen who wins, they will have to deal with the voting influence of the other members.

Some of you may have noticed that when campaigning political parties promise the earth, and then when in power do whatever they want to.

FerrariFan63 sounds very like a New Labour spin doctor.

I am certainly no Ferrari fan, though I also don't recall seeing any Jean Todt scandal proof anywhere. Sure, the McLaren diehards hate him...but then they would hate anyone who had ever worn a red shirt to an F1 race, that goes without saying. I do always find it worth a smirk when someone says there is lots of proof, but when asked to produce it they say they could...but don't want to waste the time doing so. That is typically the sign of someone who has drunk the team kool-aid without ever seeing proof of anything. It seems to me it was McLaren with stolen Ferrari data (proven...undenied...penalized for)...not the other way around. Todt is corrupt? Compared to who? Ron Dennis? ROFL, give me a break.

I can't say I support Jean Todt, but then again...I can't say why I wouldn't do so either.

Personally I rather have Ari Vatanen because he hasn't had any involvement in Formula 1; whereas Jean Todt has for many years heading up Ferrari's F1 team. I believe that Formula 1 needs a neutral president. If Todt rules in favour of Ferrari rightly or wrongly, the other teams will be screaming favouritism, plus I believe it'll be more of the same Mosley nonsense. Independently observers is a great idea, Mosley should frankly shut the f*ck up; he should have no say in his successor.

POINT ONE-Im a McLarenFan and yes, I hate the slimey toad Todt. But I dont hate anything in a red shirt, in fact i like and respect many of them kimi, Smedly, Massa , Domenicalli being at the top of my list. The only ones Ive really disliked are Todt and Schumacher.
POINT TWO- Evidence of Todt 's corruption. His recent Malaysian tourism scam.
His involvement with mass dampers, fexible floors, traction control, drivers parking on the race track, drivers forcing opponents off the track during title shoot outs. And central to this, his ability to get away with much of the above due his 'special relationship' with the FIA.
Ferrari backhanders from the FIA.
Ferrari veto of rule change
Conflict of intetrest(he only resigned from Ferrari to have a shot at the FIA)
Support from Mosely who endorses corruption
POINT THREE -Whats Ron Dennis go to do with this? He's not standing for FIA presidency, he has more integrity than that!

Wow, I can't believe you took the time to write this ridiculous dribble, but lets take a look at it shall we?

Fair enough..but then wouldn't half of those guys at the very least be involved in the majority of what you quoted below? Ferrari's veto being one of them...Todt and Schumacher, but not Domenicalli and Smedly? You are attempting to show your impartiality towards Ferrari but I'm afraid your story doesn't hold water.

Really? Are we to believe that you are insinuating that mass dampers, flexible floors and traction control were cheating I'm assuming? You have never held a rule book in your hand and attempted to wring the most out of it apparently. If they were cheating, they would have been busted for it. The rules were unclear, so they exploited them...as McLaren and every other team on the paddock has done many times over. Forcing opponents off the track was Jean Todt now? HE did that? Parking the car was Jean Todt now? No maam, the team who has been caught cheating, stealing data, lying to stewards...I'm afraid that is your team. It just is. You can insinuate a 'special relationship' if you like, but it is just that...insinuation. No proof whatsoever mind you, just the ramblings of rival teams fan.

Ferrari backhanders from the FIA.
Ferrari veto of rule change

Jean Todt is responsible for the veto rule that was never used? That veto was offered by the FIA to keep Ferrari from leaving back then. You are asserting that Jean Todt is responsible for that? Ok, show us then. What do you mean you have nothing to show? Oh, we are to just believe you then? Oh, ok...I got it. Which team do you support again? Yup...got it. Haven't they been caught cheating several times in the last few years? I know, I know...slinging mud at the other teams makes one feel better when their team has been horribly managed for half a decade.

Conflict of intetrest(he only resigned from Ferrari to have a shot at the FIA)

Even if that is true (which I would like to see a source on)...how is that a problem exactly? If you want someone who knows anything at all about F1 at the helm (and I certainly do), then he is going to come from one of the teams. I suppose in your eyes the only team he should come from is silver in color? Or do you want someone from Force India at the helm maybe?

Support from Mosely who endorses corruption

None of us can help who supports or does not support us. You and bud are constantly supporting each other, does that mean you two are in bed?

POINT THREE -Whats Ron Dennis go to do with this? He's not standing for FIA presidency, he has more integrity than that!

Integrity? Ron Dennis? ROFL  That's like saying you are impartial.

Wow I cant believe you took the time to write all that ridiculous drivel , and I cant be bothered to answer it all. You asked for evidence and you got it. Why do yo keep bringing McLaren amd Ron Dennis into it? Ron Dennis isnt stadning for the FIA presidency...Im sure I just said that! McLaren were only done for cheating because Todt was in bed with the FIA, and thats why Todt and his cronnies got away with far worse. And yes Im in bed with Bud
